August 4th - Facebook email

Sometimes the paths we take are long and hard, but remember: those are the ones that lead

Well yesterday I had the lurgy and no energy for anything so I spent the afternoon sat at my pc messing about and decided it was time to take my health and diet seriously to get my health back to tip top condition! So I’m gonna get back to taking care of me, it’s not about being thin, its about feeling good in myself and well.

So whilst looking through stuff I found out the following tidbits of information and a recipe to share with you;

Mmm, Diet Swap
WOW - Del Monte Raspberry Iced Smoothie only 1 point. A lot less points than a Magnum at 7 or the double caramel one for 9!

Diet Myth Busted!
Muscle weighs more than fat – FALSE
This is a physical impossibility – 1lb of muscle and 1lb of fat both weigh 1lb! The difference, however, is in the volume of each – a pound of fat is three times the size of muscle. So muscle is actually denser, not heavier.

A nice fact for you now ;-)
A glass of champagne is as good for your heart as red wine! It contains high levels of polyphenols – plant compounds that help keep blood vessels dilated, reducing blood pressure, according to a new study. (cava and prosecco are thought to have the same effect) CHEERS!

Blueberries for healthy bowels
We know blueberries are good for us, and now new research has found that the fibre in them can help prevent intestinal diseases. Researchers say the effect is even better if blueberries are eaten with probiotic yogurts – there’s your breakfast sorted – YUM!

Chicken & Prawn Paella - 5pts per portion – ready in ten minutes!
Serves 4 - £2.05 per person

Cook 1 onion, sliced and 2 cloves garlic, crushed in 1tbsp sunflower oil for 1 minute. Add 300g chicken breast, cubed, and 1/2tsp turmeric and cook for 2 minutes. Add 2 x 250g packs Uncle Ban’s Express Golden Vegetable Rice and 300ml chicken stock, mix well and simmer for 3 minutes. Add 150g tiger prawns (fresh or frozen and defrosted) and cover with a lid. Continue to cook for a further 2 minutes or until the chicken is cooked through. Serve sprinkled with parsley.

See cooking and losing weight doesn’t have to be difficult and for the rest of the week I’ll find some more recipes to prove it.

Remember life starts NOW.

Are you living yet?!
