It's been a lovely weekend, after a great huddle on Saturday morning, the rest of the day was pretty chilled, tele watching after I finished all the washing from the neverending basket!
Dinner was simple, 2 Aldi garlic breads, with frozen Mediterranean veg and a bit of cheese topped with venison which was reduced to £3 for 500g and I wanted to try it - it was good! I'd eat it again but wouldn't go out of my way to buy it, although it is low on calories in comparison to some meal, 103 calories per 100g, actually I've just looked beef strips are 118 calories per 100g so not a massive difference, lamb however would be 153 calories per 100g for fillet strips.
Sunday involved a lie in - happy days followed by this delicious brunch, high in calories but two meals in one, the bacon is just how I like it, Sainsbury's taste the difference streaky bacon, 2 slices are 59 calories = bargain. Plum tomatoes flavour is amazing in comparison to chopped tomatoes, I can chop them up in the pan myself! The butter was a bit excessive but delicious, I thought they were 6g packets but they were 10g each - oops 148 calories just for the butter!
We went for a walk over the chase, just shy of an hour but my back and leg coped really well, just my knee pain, great progress. I've just done my physio as it's motivating me being able to be mobile again. If only the rain would go away, can't believe we woke up to rain again this morning!
On the way back from the chase, we pulled into Hollybush for ice cream off the van, £13 for 3 waffle ice creams with flakes - that's ridiculous isn't it! Or am I just tight?
I have fancied lamb chops for weeks but he leaves so much on the bone that I decided to get leg steaks, was really indulgent by going to Essington Fruit Farm for 3 of them, they cost £20 (£23 per kg) but wow, the taste of them was off the scale and there was just that little bit of bone in the middle, really, really good. I need to compare them to leg steaks from supermarket now which are about £15 per kg.
I love food, couscous is my new favourite carb, chicken oxo in the water before pouring it on the grains and leave for 10 minutes with a lid on. I have to say though, those potatoes from Aldi are really good. £1.59, there was 400g, there was 11 potatoes in there, so they split 3 ways because of the couscous.
That dinner cost me 764 calories, it was delicious. I don't normally do breakfasts so big and if I hadn't I would've been within my budget but I've gone over this weekend, I have however had two great nights sleep and burned more calories than I usually do at the weekend so I'll take that.
I'm thinking of doing my own fakeaway Chinese takeaway today, do my chow mein
Chicken Chow Mein (behappyowls.com) that I haven't made in a while, maybe do beef rather than chicken or quorn make it a little healthy! I've got some 'posh' chicken chunks in batter I'm trying to replicate the chicken balls in sweet and sour (not sure how to get that sticky sauce yet though).
£3 on offer usually £4.50 from Ocado
£4 from Ocado
If you've never used Ocado, there's 25% off your first order and 3 months unlimited free deliveries using VOU8132248 code. I don't think they're any more expensive than other supermarkets and they have great offers.
Also got to master the egg fried rice, challenge accepted! But first I need to plan this weeks huddle chat, do another machine full of washing, hoover the house (boringhell) and have another cuppa. I wonder if I could make our own pancake rolls? I have seen the pastry sheets in the freezer in Sainsburys, I'll have a think about that.
Here's to eating less calories today! Have a good one,
Mwah, luv ya
Love me x
