21st April 2018
You are my sunshine, my only sunshine, you make me happy
when skies are grey.
Now I’ve got you singing, what a lovely day yesterday was,
the sunshine was just what I needed, well that and some giggles with my bestie,
a few hours well spent for sure, then the rest of the day with my mom in a good
mood and all is good in my world. I even
caught her BeYOUtiful smile on camera, how great is this shot, this is the mom
no disease can take from me…
Today’s
our coffee morning day, so this blogs got to be short because I have a lot to
do, here’s to raising lots and lots of money for the Stroke Association. Why the Stroke Association? Well four ladies Pam, Karen, Deanne &
Sally (2 of my members) are running a 5k on Sunday in aid of the same charity. Pam’s
dad had a stroke last year but made a full recovery thanks to thrombolysis.
Karen has been inspirational in her weight loss journey, already having lost 10
stone. The
money will help those like Pam’s dad live an independent life, Pam loves her dad
so very much and cannot begin to explain how lucky they feel still having him
in their lives after such a scary experience.
Fact: There are more than 100,000
strokes in the UK each year; that is around one stroke every five minutes.
There are over 1.2 million stroke survivors in the UK.
Every two seconds, someone in the world will have a stroke.
Stroke is the fourth single leading cause of death in the UK.
Together
we can help reduce these statistics- please give if you can, thank you. If you can’t make it today, do a donation on
their justgiving page https://www.justgiving.com/fundraising/karen-green33
you can also text a donation Text OWLS61£1 or £2 or £5 or £10 or £20 - to 70070
to donate.
I
haven’t had my dad for over 20 years, he suffered strokes and they were horrid,
mom also had mini strokes which contributed to her vascular dementia, they’re
horrid and if fundraising and research can help, then let’s raise serious
cash.
What
can you do to reduce your risk of having a stroke? It’s all about those
lifestyle changes,
Stop
smoking
Drink
less alcohol
Eat
healthy
Do
more exercise
Watch
your weight.
All
these things can help to improve many medical conditions such as diabetes,
high blood pressure and cholesterol and reduce your risk of stroke as a
result.
Right hope to see you at
