Prickly subject...

1st July 2011
A person who can speak many languages is not necessarily more valuable than a person who can listen in one.
Is it just me or does the sunshine make other people burst into random song, this morning it was “Salagadoola mechicka boola bibbidi- bobbidi- boo put 'em together and what have you got bibbidi- bobbidi- boo!!”  Mmm what can I say, it just appeared in my head, so I googled it, it’s from Cinderella apparently, which I didn’t know and I don’t think I’ve ever watched. Then I found this video no you tube that made me smile a lot and shows kids can be cute,
She also does a mean rendition of “Don’t go breaking my heart”.  Genius!
Another glorious day, whilst walking Alfie I saw a thistle, a weed to some but an absolutely striking flower in my eyes, don’t you agree.

It just goes to show we all have a different perspective on what beauty is.
The weekends almost here and I have to say I can’t believe how fast this weeks gone, it’s also the 1st July today, that means we’re half way through the year, leaving 176 sleeps till Christmas ‘-D
Although most of you of course aren’t even thinking about Christmas, you are thinking about your summer holidays, which is what we discussed in this weeks meeting, and the conclusion was we all have choices when we’re going away, we can choose to;
- Lose weight
- Maintain
- Gain weight
The options are ours. We are in control, but we need to decide which we want to do.  So a realistic target and some sort of plan or commitment is what’s needed to survive!
Not going away this year, why no resolve to make every day a holiday! We all deserve a holiday so why not try some of these tips to inject some feel-good factor into your everyday routine.
Whether the sun shines this weekend or not, decide to lie down and do nothing: It doesn't matter if your sun lounger is in your living room or if you just find a patch of grass in the park, doing nothing is good for you. Yoga experts recommend lying on your back with your heels together, and your arms 45 degrees from your body, palms-up.  We can do that I’m sure, that’s not too much like hard work is it.
Why not take some time and imagine yourself far away: stretch out on the patio, in the park, or even in your living room, and put on some music to create a holiday atmosphere. Anything you fancy.
Why not fake it: Looking like you're relaxed and sun-soaked could help you feel more chilled and relaxed. Slap on some self-tanning lotion, or book a sunning session at your local salon, and dig out your floatiest summer frocks and little cardigans to get the holiday buzz every day.  I love to wear my maxi dresses even when it’s raining!
Go out mid-week: Throw caution to the wind and partake in some mid-week decadence. Dress up and go out for dinner to your favourite restaurant - or for drinks and a show. It will break up the week - and give you something to look forward to.  Not when you’re supposed to be at your weight watcher meeting though ;D
Bare it: For poor sun-deprived Brits, one of the greatest luxuries of being on holiday is feeling the sun on our skin. So be adventurous - do the gardening in your swimming cossie, the shopping in your shorts, and trip to the office without tights. Remember to slap on plenty of high-factor sun cream and wear a hat.  Apparently there’s a nudist caravan park in Telford if you’re after the full experience!
Explore your surroundings, why no change your walking/jogging route, or take a Sunday drive to somewhere you've never been before. You won't believe what's just around the corner. And whilst your there do the tourist thing: take some photos of the family or friends, then share them on facebook!
Ooo why not Cook yourself out of the country: Experiment and exchange your usual recipes for an exotic dish. Use coconut, coriander and cayenne, to spice up your life. There some delicious recipes in the Weight Watchers Oriental cook book (in meetings) and you could even eat outside if the suns shining, it doesn’t have to be a bbq.
And lastly whilst the sun is shining why not have some friends over to sample your cocktails. Combine 100ml champagne (or cava) and a vanilla pod or fresh strawberry - to create a delicious alternative to the usual sweet and sticky concoctions.
Mmm I could just start my day with one of those, but I won’t of course ;D
xx
