Let's make Thursday tremendous...

Thursday 30th November 2023

 up

Well the Christmas cat tree arrived and they love it, both have had a good scratch and hopefully it'll keep em away from the sofa for the foreseeable!

I enjoyed mushrooms on toast for breakfast yesterday, I'm loving toast at the minute especially as it's with real butter, you can't beat a bit of Kerrygold especially as it was on offer.

After a lovely huddle, I went and did a food shop, ouch is all I can say there, Aldi and Sainsbury's and an empty cashback card an hour later!  I did treat us to a Sainsbury's meal deal though and it was delicious, steak and chips, we had it with seaweed and I had peas too.  There was a sticky toffee pudding and a  bottle of prosecco too but they are still in the fridge, the boys can eat the pudding at the weekend.

I'd treated myself to some cheese and had a small plate for my tea, the cranberry wensleydale wasn't as good as the small one I'd picked up in M&S last week, I must pick a bit up before Christmas.

That was my day really, bit of tele, oh I did go and pick Aryn's birthday 'cake' for today I'll share that photo later when I take it, it's hiding in the outside fridge at the moment, I've just put his gifts out, not much as he wanted cash!  15 today, it's madness, two years since I met this wonderful young man and he's grown a foot and now eats us out of house and home as they say!  We went to Ireland for his birthday and he came back with us and we've never regretted it for a moment.

As you can see from the photo, himself treats the living room like a tool shed with his drill case on the side, I reckon there's enough parts in here to build a car ;) oh and that's a rug standing up the wall for the house in Ireland.  There's lots of things all round the house that are to go to Ireland so it's a bit of a mess, we don't have the space to store it.

I've got the makings of a stew for tomorrow, if I cook it this afternoon it'll be delicious by tomorrow.  Not sure what Aryn will want for his birthday dinner, he's still not well enough for school but we're getting there.  I've got some bellydraft in the fridge but if he wants takeaway pizza I could pick that up on my way home from huddle later.

Let's have a great day, I'm ready for it are you!

It's not Christmas YET!

Wednesday 29th November 2023

Check me out - I lost a pound at the scales yesterday!  Anything that isn't a gain at this time of year is a bonus for sure and I was pleased as punch.

After a great morning in the huddle, I forced myself to the gym, I actually didn't mind it once I was there, managed an hour.  I had a numb bum and feet when I'd finished for a few minutes.  I'm thinking I should do 40 minutes instead and see if that's easier on my body as my body does't love the after effects of the exercise too much.  I just feel like once I'm there, get as much done as possible but that's not necessarily working.

Once home, I used up the leftover gammon and made egg fried rice with a bit of veg from the fridge.  I really need to go shopping, my fridge is bare!  I didn't have any tea when I got back on the night, I wasn't hungry.

Quiet day other than work, gym and food, the rest was tele and jigsaw and a 90 minute chat on the phone to himself, then sleep, only six and a half hours but that'll do.

What to eat today?  Well I need to go to the shop, Aryn's still not right so no school, gutted cos it's his birthday tomorrow and I wanted to treat us this week to takeaways or meals out and we can't because his condition has flared up again and we're having to focus and pay extra attention on his diet.

I fancy a stew Friday I think, if I make it tomorrow, it'll be delicious for when himself gets back and I won't have to cook Friday night either - bonus.  Yeah sorted there's one meal, maybe treat us to Bellydraft for today or tomo as it's one of Aryn's favourite, some good greens and mash, ooo nice.

I've just remembered mushrooms in the fridge, so if they're still okay, I'll have them on toast for breakfast before work.

Ooo last day or November tomorrow, then it's the final countdown, I need to get him an advent calendar too, I can't for the life of me remember which one he picked last year!

Right time to get ready, another day, another chance to eat healthy folks, we can do this, let's end the month eating good healthy food.  We've got this!

It's not Christmas YET!

Some days you just need to rest...

Tuesday 28th November 2023

I had a lazy day yesterday, I'm not gonna lie Aryn wasn't well enough to go to school again and that gave me the excuse I needed to think 'sod it'!  My Fitbit says 4,860 so not the worst, I walked over the shops a couple of times at least.  I used the leftovers from Sunday for my breakfast, I don't like waste and this was delicious, there's chopped up Alphabites, parsnip and green beans fried together topped with a fried egg and a slice of bread and spread, bloomin lush.

I enjoyed doing a jigsaw instead of going to the gym - oops, but I did enjoy it.

I also watched the movie Gran Turismo which I really enjoyed, based on a true story too.

We had macaroni cheese and cauliflower for tea but I left them too long in the actifry so didn't eat it all!

Asleep by 8 and I've had a cracking good 9 hours sleep, bloomin lovely!  Ooo I didn't wake up in pain at all either, bonus!

I'll move more today, I did get the washing and the washing up done at least so I was a little bit productive but you know what sometimes you need to rest and yesterday was one of those days.  Time to recuperate and recharge is important, especially at this time of year with so much to do.

Oh as I'm not having a Christmas tree in this house because the cats are crazy and Minnie eats plastic so she'd basically kill herself by the time we get back, (calm down Anita - you're gonna love this!)  Instead I've ordered them their own tree, here it is...

It's a safe tree for them to play with and it'll make me smile, plus they've murdered the scratch post I bought them when they arrived last year.  How cute is that!

I have no idea what we're eating today but it won't be anything exciting because I've not been shopping so it's whatever we already have in the cupboard or freezer with frozen veg.   I do need to nip to Aldi but can't feel the love for food shopping these days so put it off for as long as possible.

Looking forward to our huddles this week, as requested we're talking motivation and surviving Christmas saboteurs too, a bit of both.

Better go shower and get ready for the day,

Mwah, luv ya

Monday 27 November 2023

Let's get Monday done!

Monday 27th November 2023

4am on a Monday morning, welcome to the week!  A chilled weekend all round, well almost, there was the issue of the MOT!  What happened you ask, well Saturday morning before I went to work, we realised his work car was due to be insured by Wednesday and we hadn't realised, of course there aren't many places you can book a mot for the same day especially on a Saturday but I remembered there's a place by Ikea that's a bit like a drive through, we looked it up online and it had a booking available for that afternoon - phew!  It wasn't where we'd choose to go but needs must.  Well what a farce that turned out to be, after dropping it off, going for a walk round B&Q and coming back, we were told that they wouldn't do the MOT because there was a pipe bulging or something and they thought running the test could blow the head gasket! He was like 'what, I've just drive 70 miles down the motorway with no issues at all.  But nope, they said they wouldn't do it till we had it looked at so away we went.  Thankfully his regular mechanic was still there at half three and he took a quick look at it and said there's nothing wrong with it, made a call and managed to get it booked in for an MOT appointment if we drove to the place immediately, which of course we did and by 5pm it had passed, nothing wrong with it at all.  What a bloody nightmare, now I've got to get a refund from the other place but we're relieved it passed.  Makes you wander if they just wanted to finish early cos it was Saturday afternoon and we were the last of the day!

We had a tv day yesterday, enjoyed a couple of films, The Hitman's Bodyguard and The Hitman's Bodyguards Wife, both mad but funny, the kind of stuff we both enjoy - no depth at all :) We then watched The Boat Story on BBC, a 6 parter and very watchable, we couldn't stop watching anyway and binged it before going to bed.

Food wise I cooked a gammon joint on Friday in the slow cooker, as instructed once again by Elle, I wrapped it completely in foil and added a little water to the pot, it was delicious, we had cobs with it and they were delicious, a bit of mustard, cobs were from Aldi, I nipped there Friday just for a few essentials.

Using up the freezer stuff this week to save a few quid, we've got cauliflower cheese today with leftover ham and himself has took the rest on sandwiches, it was a 3.2kg joint or was it 2.3kg, bought it on offer in Sainsbury's, really good, would definitely have again.

Yesterday we couldn't decide what to have so I did a mix up from the freezer and it was delicious.  Chinese chicken from FarmFoods, a Goodfellas pizza from the Iceland 8 for £10 offer, and a few other bits.

The beauty of a buffet is I don't get a look in with two blokes, so it helps me control my calories.

Aryn's grown another inch, I marked the door frame just over a month ago and when I did it again this weekend it's another inch higher, he's now 6ft 1/2in, Friday for his tea, he ate this

A 750g meal meant to serve two, he then followed it up with three of Aldi's version of pop tarts - yeah, he can eat but he's not got an ounce of fat on him.  How jealous am I? :)

I'm sat on sofa with Coco catching up on I'm a celebrity, I half watch it as I'm doing other thing but I get the gist of what's going on.

I could actually do a duvet day today you know, go back to bed and stay there, it's cold and dark outside, but no frost this morning at least Already this morning one of the cats has been sick, nice start to my day, there's a pile of washing in the kitchen thanks to the giant that lives upstairs, the sink is also full of washing up and I've got a meeting to plan.  A typical Monday morning ain't it! At least I've not got to drink what they're drinking on I'm a celeb, there just isn't enough money in the world to make me do that!

Once I've got everything on my to do list done, I'm going to enjoy Doctor Who later, until then, let's get stuff done.

Mwah, luv ya

Friday 24 November 2023

Life is good despite the housework....

Friday 24th November 2023

Yay it's Friday!  I love a Friday I do, especially since I decided a few weeks ago that I wouldn't go to the gym on a Friday so that my body wasn't in so much pain when himself gets back so we could enjoy our night.  Although there's some housework to be done today but I'll take painkillers.  I'm going in!  Yeah, I've warned him so many times that if he didn't tidy his room, I would and he hasn't do it well enough so when he's gone to school, I'm in there to fumigate it!

Look at the gift the lovely Tina bought me yesterday, a giant Babybel, how cool is that, although it is 656 calories - ouch!  I will enjoy it a little at a time, love a bit of Babybel I do.

After eating leftover cold salmon for lunch, I wasn't in the mood to cook when I got back from work and didn't think I was hungry, but I had to cook for Aryn, he had fish with curly fries and beans, so I had fish with mash and peas and it was delicious, I really enjoyed it, proper, easy comfort convenience food and just under £3 a portion , I could eat that again right now!

Oh I finished another jigsaw yesterday, well I say finished, there's a piece missing and the only thing I can think is the cats knocked it off the table and played with it!  I'm gonna have a good look today when I clean up the living room but I won't hold out any hope, such a shame as it was a brand new jigsaw.

I've got a gammon joint to cook today, gonna put it in the slow cooker with Elle's instructions, then I think I'll go get some cobs to have it for tea and if there's any left tomorrow, which there should be I could do with mash and veg like above, another easy meal.  We shall see, but first to go clear the kitchen because Aryn decided to make a smoothie last night but the smoothie maker wouldn't work, it seems to be broken, so then he used the food processor instead and now my kitchen is full of dirty kitchen gadgets!  I'm gonna have to get a new smoothie maker too! Grrr!

Let's get this day started, I'm looking round the living room shaking my head, we are so untidy and I can't blame everyone else because I'm as bad, yeah tidy up day and I might sneak it a bubble bath later before anyone gets home.

Enjoy your Friday,

Mwah, luv ya

Thursday 23 November 2023

Another day, 3 more huddles!

Thursday 23rd November 2023

Yesterday didn't turn out as planned, I left the house just before half eight and didn't get back till just before 3pm!  One we'd done the huddle, I got a message to say Aryn's school uniform was ready to pick up so I decided to do that first, on the way I nipped to Boundary Mills to check out those Christmas decorations on the tree in the entrance and it wasn't as good as I remembered.  I still like the idea of blue and silver decorations on my tree this year but not theirs, the ones in Next are lovely :).  Yep Next is by M&S so I had a mooch round there, I love their Christmas stuff, but I also like B&Ms ones they're nice.  I've found a new tree topper too, need to get Elle to order that for me.

Had a walk round a couple of shops, bought Aryn a couple of things for his birthday next week, then decided to go to Ikea to get the dishes for my Ninja that fit perfectly and the rug for the house in Ireland.  Well....  Once I'd paid for the rug, I ended up at the 'collection' point for just over an hour so that was my afternoon used up.  I have to say that hour did go really quickly and I enjoyed sitting on my ass and resting, turned out there had been a glitch in the system which had lost my order - great joy!

This all meant I never made the gym, on a positive I did clock up over 9k steps so that's good.

I was shattered when I got home, really tired, really early, did my best to stay downstairs but caved just before 7, himself called just after 8 and I was asleep, had almost 9.5 hours sleep!  TMI maybe but I've started bleeding again, think I'm going to have to contact my GP, as it's not calming down.  It's the HRT patches causing it and in the last four weeks, this is the third times I've started bleeding, both previous  times it lasted 5 days, so it'll probably do the same this time.  I've only just started recording the dates but this is what's been happening since the beginning - it's draining me physically.

Everything was tracked yesterday and I could've eaten better, ended on 1955 calories, so over by 171, could've been a lot worse, at least I only had 3 Cadbury's heroes and I resisted another glass of wine.

I love Christmas and usually I just get overtaken by the joy of it and overspend but I'm being a real grown up this year because I know I can't afford it.  I need to keep that control throughout December.  I am going to treat myself to the blue baubles for the tree though, then the red baubles I already have could go in a bowl somewhere to brighten up either the coffee table or in the kitchen.  Yeah that's my indulgence for this season.

Now to go get ready for today, I'm just watching I'm a Celeb as I type this, so I'm half watching it, that's as much of my attention as it'll get I'm afraid, it's not worth my full attention.  Too much to do today, 3 huddles for starters.

Let's have a great day!

Mwah, luv u

Wellness Wednesday - you in?

Wednesday 22nd November 2023

Another day done!  I stayed within my calories too and I managed an 1/2lb weight loss on the scales, so relief there.  I started my day with this breakfast, I only put butter on one slice of toast so I could enjoy that taste and the egg and tomatoes went with the other slice.  It was soooooo good and I was thrilled that I didn't get heartburn from it for a change.

After a great morning in our huddles, I dragged myself to the gym again for another hour on that recumbent bike and I did 21km this time so not just increasing on time but distance too.  Oh it don't harm hurt your bum though, numb bum syndrome is a thing! :)

I was ravenous when I got home and remembered I'd took this out of the freezer to defrost, I used to absolutely adore this meal and I enjoyed it yesterday but is it worth 608 calories for the tray, I don't think so, it is supposed to serve two as well, but even with rice, that's a push, I had it with a slice of bread and butter.
I made ramen noodles for dinner but I wasn't hungry and I wasn't impressed either so Aryn inhaled both bowls!  Then he started on these which were a gift from Anita.

He teased me but eventually let me have 2, then I pinched 2 more when he went to bed :) they cost me 172 calories though, not really worth that, I can resist having more.  I did stay within my calorie allowance thankfully, and looking at the fitbit app, there was at least 500 calories more burned than eaten, 500 calories a day is 3500 a week, the equivalent of a pound weight loss.

If I can get over 6500 steps a day I'll be pleased because walking causing me pain, which is why my exercise is being done in a seated position, it's still burning calories and using my legs.  I was in pain with my knees when I'd finished yesterday but they eased off eventually, use it or lose it ay?

Salmon for dinner today, defrosted from freezer, think I'll keep it simple with mash and peas, tomatoes on toast again for breakfast use what's left of the tin.  Another trip to the gym after the huddle this morning, then a bit of housework at some point, I have a pile of washing up to do, no one else is gonna do it are they.

I'm hoping to fetch Aryn's new school uniform today, had to order new trousers yesterday after seeing him walk across the road and realising they'd divorced his ankles by a good 4 inches!  It'll mean a trip to M&S which might mean I treat myself to something nice to eat for tomorrow.  £93 for 5 pair of trousers and 3 shirts, it's not easy to find trousers for a 6ft teenager, everywhere that sells them is out of stock, oh to have a 30in waist!

Time to get ready for my day, at least I slept till 5am this morning not stupidly awake at 4am which is ridiculously early for anyone, the cats are running round like loons again this morning, they tried their hardest to get me out of bed this morning, jumping on my bedroom door handle - crazy cats!

Let's have a wonderful Wednesday shall we, Wellness Wednesday sounds like a good plan doesn't it!  You in?

Mwah, luv ya

Tuesday 21 November 2023

There's no quitting allowed!

Tuesday 21st November 2023

I'm trying, that's all I can say!  Had egg on toast for breakfast and chicken, chips and peas for dinner yesterday, that could've been a better dinner I guess but it also could've been worse.

On a positive, I managed 60 minutes on the recumbent bike which gave me a numb bum :)

57 active minutes, I'll take that, especially as I've spent the weekend in pain, the beauty of the recumbent bike is it supports my back.

I spent an hour wrapping the Christmas gifts I've bought, not going mad this year, just a handful of small things each and that's me done.  Aryn wants cash so his dad can sort that :) When I was asked what I want, I have no idea at all, other than slippers because last years pair, the sole is coming off.  How lucky am I not to 'want' anything.  Don't get me wrong a new laptop would be nice but this one will do until it breaks, same with my phone, it's on constant low power mode to make the battery last longer, but it works, so it'll do.  Oh how I've changed, I used to have the latest, new iphone when it was released, these days as long as it works!

I did treat myself and have my nails done yesterday at Facebook Glamazon, smiled on the night when I realised the colour matches the cats :)

I'm really pleased with them, they've taken over a year to grow, since having them painted it's helped as it reminds me not to bite them!  They've come a long way since I had them done the first time on 12th September, I'm proud of myself and grateful to the girls at Glamazon for putting up with me and taking care of me.

Now if I can just get back to treating my body with the same amount of love and care and focus on improving my food intake.  I'm thinking noodles today, we've not had them in a while and I bought a ramen broth the other day on offer, I have leftover chicken from yesterday and some curly kale, that should be nice.  Yeah that's dinner sorted!

Cereal for breakfast possibly or toast or maybe eggs, I can't decide, I have a couple of hours yet so I can think about it, I've been wide awake since 4am, woke up as stiff as a board, my back just seizes up in the night and turning over is a real experience.  The joys of aging!

Anyway on a brighter note, I'm getting excited, it's 33 sleeps till Christmas, I spotted a lovely decorated tree at the weekend when we popped to Boundary Mills and I'm considering treating myself to some blue baubles and changing our tree this Christmas.  I love to decorate my tree and changing the colour is cheaper than buying a second tree isn't it.  See how grown up and practical I can be lol.

At least there's no calories in baubles!

Time to get me another mug of tea, get set up for my day, I'm watching I'm a Celeb, no way on earth would I do that eating challenge, not for all the money in the world, I'd rather be hard up, crazy folk.   I think we've finally found a pizza Elle wouldn't eat!

Here's to a tremendous Tuesday, 5 weeks today Christmas day will be done, keep that in mind when you're spending money, if you can't afford it don't buy it, don't get into debt for one day.  Christmas can be done on the cheap.  Our turkey last year only cost me ten euros from Lidl's and it was delicious, it's just a roast dinner isn't it, I don't go crazy, gravy hides everything!

Mwah, luv ya

Monday 20 November 2023

5 WEEKS - EEK!

Monday 20th November 2023

As in true Monday morning style, I'm sat in the living alone, it's quiet and I'm enjoying the peace which the cats are doing their best to disrupt by fighting and chasing each other around.  Unlike most Mondays, I've not had to get up at half four because he went back last night as he'd had to bring the Motorhome back to get the exhaust done, so he didn't want to be driving it at silly o'clock this morning, so I was in bed and asleep by 7 last night - fabulous, up at 5.30am this morning and my Fitbit is saying YAY you had 9h 22m sleep, go me, makes up for the pathetic 5 hours Friday night, I did manage 8 hours Saturday night though so at least I've caught up on the ZZZ's.

My weekend has mostly consisted of crap tv and baking, I made rock cakes then made them again with wholemeal flour to see if he'd eat them that way because of the fibre content and it was a defo yes, so instead of 1.3g per cake, they have 2.5g which is brilliant and an easy way to start the day, I know having a 'cake' for breakfast isn't probably the best thing to do BUT, there's sugar in so many breakfast cereals and people put butter on their toast, on a positive they have sultanas in so a dried fruit at least and he's eating something which he doesn't usually so one of the and an apple, I'll take that.

I also make wholemeal cheese scones Cheese Scones • Gestational Diabetes UK they have 2g of fibre in them and he said he liked and could eat them too, a win all round.

Pain has been bad this weekend, I've had to resort to painkillers to get through, my back, my leg and my damn hands too, I struggled to get the lid of a carton of milk, I mean really!

Oh yeah Saturday lunchtime we drove over to the McArthur Glen shopping centre in Cannock as there was a couple of things for Christmas I wanted to check out, we didn't even bother, the queue to go in the car parks were ridiculous!  No parking spaces, can you imagine what the shops would've been like.

This recipe is going on my to make list Slow Cooker Honey Garlic Chicken {with Sticky Sauce} (tamingtwins.com) it looks really tasty, easy too which at this time of year is definitely a good thing.

I must start remembering to take things out the freezer that have to be defrosted to cook, get some of it used up.  Gonna go do a meal plan for the week I think, see what's in there.  I know there are potato waffles and Alphabites because I saw them yesterday, convenience food I know but only 94 calories in a waffle and 164 calories in 100g of alphabites, both were on offer in Iceland when I bought them, they are in the 8 for £10 offer, so it's a good offer, they're are Goodfella pizzas (£3), fishfingers (£2) and othr things over £2 in that offer.  I did the online shop didn't I and saved money overall too, I paid £65 for a £95 order, so bonus!

Anyway, it's not food we'd eat all the time but it's a tasty treat to have a bit of processed food and even better when it's cheaper.

Our members have been so generous this morning donating food and other bits for the Facebook Hands to Help You people who are helping those in need, I consider myself very lucky that I can afford to have a full freezer!

I'm not gonna lie, I get quite emotional when I start to think about how tough some folk are finding life right now, it takes me back to my childhood when mom was skint and it makes me proud that because of how hard I've worked since leaving school, she never had to worry about money again.  We were never rich, but she never had to look at a bill again.

Time to get on with my day, a trip to the gym, not over do it because of my back but stay mobile and active.  I think the recumbent bike is the winner, swimming, I'm not so sure.  I'm trying to work out what caused my flare up this weekend, swimming was one thing I did that I haven't done for a while but so was walking round the shops, maybe a combination of a few things.

Let's have a magic rather than a manic Monday.  I'm gonna get stuff done, take care of me and mine and ignore the fact Christmas day is 5 weeks today!

Mwah, luv ya

Saturday 18 November 2023

Love my life I do!

Saturday 18th November 2023

Been awake since just gone 4am so I've just watched last nights Big Brother final and I'm very pleased with the results.  I'd have been happy with any of the final 3 winning, but the top 5 were in the order I'd have placed them - that doesn't happen often!

Back to yesterday, I did a lot of steps yesterday and I was in pain, walking round shops looking for kids gifts really hurt, by the time I got home my leg and back were not happy at all.  I've got them and they're all wrapped up now so all is good again in my world.  I took lots of painkillers to ease the pain and I'm good again this morning.

Foodwise, breakfast was tasty scrambled eggs, toast and spinach, really good.

I put my lamb in Ninja on dehydrate and it took a good 7.5hours plus about 15 mins on max crisp but damn it was worth the wait.  Next time I'll just do it on actifry or roast to compare, but everyone enjoyed it and there's plenty left.   Being able to cook a large leg of lamb or large joint was the reason I opted for the Ninja AF500, not cheap but it's being used almost daily so worth it in the end.

These potato stacks were delicious, a bit faffy to cook but in Aryns words 'I could eat a load of them!" They were so good, thankfully the boys saved me from overconsuming because they are seriously good.  The recipe link is below, I left skins on our potatoes for the added fibre and I'm going to have a play and mess with the recipe, changing the double cream to Elmlea double light alternative would save 500 calories straight away!  Having used that Elmlea in a butter chicken I know it will cook okay.

Our usual Friday night, a few drinks over the pub and an early ish night.  I did laugh at one of the old boys we got chatting to, Ron his name was, he told me that the first time he had met his wife was on their wedding day and when they made love that night she kept calling him a MORON!  Well I just starting laughing because I got the joke straight away and it made me chuckle for ages after.  In case you're not wide awake this morning, his name was RON, she wasn't calling him a MORON, she was saying MORE RON.  That's funny, I thought so anyway.

The cats being a devil this morning, she's loving stopping me from doing my jigsaw, she's a curious little soul, so sweet.

But I need to get ready to go to work, members await, I need to get there early to put the heating on :)

Have a wonderful weekend,

Mwah, luv u lots

Love me xx

Friday 17 November 2023

It's getting closer

Friday 17th November 2023

Sorry - not sorry!  37 days, so much to do!  I've got to find a Sonic gift for a 5 year old boy and a Minecraft gift for a 7 year old boy today, it's a charity thing, although I don't know what to get, I'll enjoy it though, as Aryn ain't playing Christmas this year, he just says he wants money!

A busy day of huddles yesterday, I also went and topped up on my wine for Christmas as it was reduced by £1.50 a bottle plus the 25% off offer in Sainsbury's woo hoo, I love a bargain.

I tried the new Walkers Christmas pudding flavoured crisps, they're a bit weird but I really liked them, Elle wasn't impressed at all.

Other than huddles my day was uneventful, I did stay up long enough to watch Big Brother live, which I enjoyed and it's the final tonight so I'll have to stay off Facebook and try and watch it early Saturday morning if I don't want to find out who's won.  Not sure if I mind finding out before watching to be honest as I don't care who wins.

I'm sat here smiling as there's a very, loud banging noise coming from next door, I'm smiling because i know it's their toddler banging the fire place, I know it drives her mad but it does make me laugh.

I've just put my 2.8kg leg of lamb in my Actifry, it fits easily which has made me happy as that's why I chose the Ninja AF500, let's hope it cooks as well as the beef did.  I'm going to slow cook it on dehydrate which is only 60 degrees so very low.

I've not got much to say today, other than my house needs a good clean AGAIN, so that's today taken, so much washing for the machine.

I haven't had as long a sleep because regardless of what time I go to sleep, I still wake up at the same time which is very frustrating.

I'll stop waffling and go get stuff done instead.  Have a great day x

Busy day in huddles for me...

Thursday 16th November 2023

I had pilchards on toast for my breakfast yesterday and they were delicious and they're so good for you.

They say we should eat one portion of oily fish every day and here's some of the benefits of eating pilchards very good for us, I particularly like that they have vitamin D especially at this time of year when we really need it.

I bought some rice krispies whilst in Farm Foods, just fancied a bowl, not had any for years, so that was my lunch, again they are fortified with vitamin D and iron both of which I need right now.  I think they will be my breakfast today.

I got my ass to the gym and did 45 mins on the recumbent bike and a few weights then I got in the pool for 10 lengths just wanted to get back in the water as I haven't been swimming for ages and I enjoyed it.   Guess who's finally got her Fitbit back!

Room for improvement on the steps but I didn't really move much after I got back from gym, still got Aryn off so spent a bit of time together chatting.  49 active zone minutes is good though, if I can get into a routine of doing that 3 times a week, that'll be great.  I did feel good afterwards, although my knee and hands weren't happy later but meh, I'm 53 my body isn't what it was 30 years ago is it!

I spent £60 in FarmFoods, got a £5 off though with a coupon so that helped, I've treated us to a leg of lamb £15, it's 2.78kg though, I found the heaviest one in there and broke my bloody nail doing it!  They take months to grow and seconds to break, they'd got to a lovely length too, but 50 years of biting them means I'm not used to being a 'lady' with them, so they don't get treated with enough respect at all, I think I need them cutting down for real life behaviour.

Got the lads some Pepsi max 24 cans for £6.99, bargain, twix cornettos 4 for 99p, box of 20 walkers crisps for £4, you have to look for the bargains not everything is cheap but there are some for sure.  Legs of lamb are half price in Sainsbury's this week (£6.50 / kg) so you can get one for £13 but one my size would be £18.20 and one slightly bigger £22.75.

I'm gonna roast the lamb, want to slow roast it though so it'll take a good 5 or 6 hours so it might not be defrosted today as it said to defrost for 24 hours and I didn't buy it till about 1pm yesterday.  I could leave it cooking whilst I go to work tonight I guess but I think I'd rather wait till Friday morning.   Any leftovers can go in a curry using ready made sauce, sorted.

That doesn't sort today's dinner, Elle's got me a boots festive sandwich for my lunch, so we will see how Aryn is and what he wants, there's plenty in freezer!

On that note I'm off to get ready for work, got an hour.

Mwah, luv ya
