If only dieting had an autopilot setting!

17th January 2012

When the only tool you own is a hammer, every problem begins to resemble a nail. Abraham Maslow

Think I overdid the running yesterday, I managed an hour over Cannock Chase but once I’d got home by 4pm I was absolutely shattered and good for nothing.  So the advice I’d been given the week before saying “make time” is fabulous but sometimes you can’t make energy!  I think sometimes you have to stop, you can’t keep going and going and going, I don’t run on batteries and as much as I’d like to be able to carry on, my body didn’t want to.  So I did as much as I could then I had a bath and flaked out, I was in bed for 8pm.

I had bought the ingredients to make a delicious meal too and never quite got to it, I WILL make that today.  On a positive I did get all my paperwork do, I’ve got me a new system that appears to be working!  I also did an hour of housework, again this is part of my new organised plan.  I haven’t made New Years resolutions, I’ve made New Year Wishes!  Yep, I’ve made a few wishes that I would like to be able to accomplish this year, including having a semi-tidy house so I’m not screaming every morning when I’m looking for something which goes onto the wish to be more organised, I realise I can’t change instantly so I’m going to do an hour every Monday and a bit at weekends if I’m around.

My Weight Watcher Wish is to lose some weight and get back to goal, and if you’ve got the same wish as me, some days that wish seems more achievable than others.  I’m taking the advise of a friend and where weight loss/management is concerned – “I’m doing my best”, you’re best is as good as you’re capable of, some weeks you’re best will be good enough for a weight loss, others not but as long as I’m doing the best I can at any given time, then I’m going to be gentle on myself because otherwise I’ll get all worked up over it and end up failing.  Can you relate to this?

I have so many members join or rejoin and when they can’t get their heads round it immediately they stop coming and it’s such a shame because they obviously want to change their habits and lose weight, but for some that’s not going to happen overnight.  For others it happens instantly, everything clicks into place and they start losing weight week after week which is fantastic.  Occasionally even those that are doing fabulously have the odd slip up, it’s usually triggered by a life event that takes them away from their normal day to day routine.  All of these behaviours are perfectly normal, which is why its so important to continue to play the game because nothing worth winning is easy.

In this weeks, Your Week there’s a speedy 5min recipe for Hoi Sin Ham Wraps that look scrumptious. And there’s an section of this months Weight Watcher magazine that has ‘make it easy – 30m meals’ to help with our busy lives, I’m going to try the steak and roast butternut salad first I think.  Yep I need speedier meals in my life J OMG there’s a recipe for Persian Lamb Pilaf that looks amazing, quick and cheap to make, nom nom nom.  I need to stop flicking through my mag now, got lots to do but that’s tonight’s reading for sure, mmm Cullen skink!  I don’t know what it is but will look later!

Anyway whether you’re flying through your week or have gone a little off course, just keep doing your best – I WILL!
