Mmm melon
= nice, just eaten half of one after my
walk with Alfie, we got soaked ;D but as we’re not made of sugar we won’t melt.
I had a
super busy day yesterday; up at 5am to fit in walk and paperwork, then I left
my house at 9am and didn’t get home till almost 10pm! So today is going to be totally relaxed, I have
lots to do but it’ll wait till tomorrow, today is rest day. We went to see the Smurfs at the cinema, a
very enjoyable film if I do say so myself. I also had a fabulous bouquet of
flowers which were totally unexpected, I have such lovely friends.
Before
we went to the cinema we sat and made things with the kids, keyrings and fridge
magnets at first (bought from ebay and we filled with photos from last weeks
trip to Cadbury World – cheaper than buying them there and gave the kids
something to do), the we just seemed to do a lot of cutting out and sticking
stuff on things, they were enjoying it anyway and its reminded me how I enjoy
being creative too, so tomorrow I might do a little scrapbooking or cardmaking
as I enjoy that and it stops me thinking about food ;D
If you’re
struggling to stay on track keeping occupied can distract you and there are
numerous ways to do that, you just need to find something you’ll either enjoy
such as a hobby, or something that needs doing anyway such as the housework!
When
was the last time you had a clean out in the kitchen cupboards and fridge, why
not do it this weekend and have the courage to waste some food you know you
shouldn’t eat.
Or are
you sitting there thinking, “I’m shattered, I don’t wanna do anything this
weekend”, if the answers yes then you need to find some ways to
re-energise. When we are overtired and
listless, we tend to think negatively.
We can become inclined to feel powerless and likely to blame anyone but
ourselves for causing our current state.
This is when it helps to have some reminders of what we can do almost immediately
to revitalise our bodies and spirits, in spite of the pressures from our
external world.
So make
a list of your favourite re-energising activities, it shouldn’t include
anything that would be difficult to do or anything too expensive, otherwise you’ll
find your negative side arguing with you so you don’t do it! My list includes;
- A bubble bath (with a bottle of bubbles too if I have them ;D)
- A refreshing shower.
- A home cooked meal.
- Half hour with a good book or magazine.
- A chat with a friend.
- A swim.
- A healthy take away or not so healthy if you have the ProPoints.
Find something you enjoy that you know you’ll do.
And of
course it’s the weekend so we want to treat ourselves – don’t we? But if you do, be aware of treats that have a
health sting in their tail! Some rewards
and cheer-up treats can leave you feeling worse about yourself. This is because you know they are bad for
you. Obviously we can all have those
kind of treats occasionally, but if you overdo them, they will inevitably do
you more harm than good. So start
thinking twice before giving yourself the kind of treats you’ll regret on weigh
day such as, “the big booze up” that leaves you feel sick the next day and
means you have a fry up and gain 2lbs on weigh day”, the second portion of
chocolate cake because the first one was scrumptious but you didn’t have the
ProPoints for the second portion and now you’re out of weeklies and it’s still
only Saturday lunchtime and you don’t get weighed for a few days. And it doesn’t have to be weight related
either, we all like to treat ourselves but if you decide to swap eating for
retail therapy but you haven’t got the cash in your bank account, you’ll end up
skint which means you won’t be able to afford to eat!
So go
find something that’ll give you some energy and put a smile on your face :D I’ve
found something but I’m not telling you what it is yet and I bet it isn’t what
you’re thinking!
