Take care of your mind as well as your body...

30th November 2016
Don't be afraid to be open-minded, your brain isn't going to fall out!

First of the month tomorrow, exciting time of year for most, sad time for others, it truly is a good time to be thankful for what and who you have and also to take time to think of others, is there something you could do to help someone else, a kind gesture, a donation, a visit, an invitation, is there a way you could make a difference to someone else's day?

We never really know what's going on in other people's lives, so always be kind to others.  Mental illness affects 1 in 4 people, it's not something that should be hidden, we should talk about it openly, get help when we need it and support each other. Be observant and notice what's going on in other people's lives, take time to check in on people, the world unnecessarily lost a very beautiful young lady yesterday, it shouldn't have happened.

I always promote the healthy and happy, it's important to take care of yourself and get the most from life.  Here are 10 practical ways to look after your mental health.  Making simple changes to how you live doesn't need to cost a fortune or take up loads of time, anyone can follow this advice, why not start today (this info was taken from www.mentalhealth.org.uk so for more details start there)
1) Talk about your feelings
2) Keep active
3) Eat well
4) Drink sensibly
5) Keep in touch
6) Ask for help
7) Take a break
8) Do something you're good at
9) Accept who you are
10) Care for others

Sounds so easy doesn't it, we all know it isn't which is why one in four are affected by mental illness.

Right changing the subject because I need to!

Food... I made giant salmon fish fingers yesterday for our lunch they were amazing, I threw 2 slices of 400g wholemeal bread (3sp), 13g low fat Cathedral city mature lighter cheese (1sp), 1 teaspoon olive oil, into my food processor and blitzed it.  Then I mixed an egg with a pinch of smoked paprika, salt & pepper.  I got 2 salmon fillets (10sp), although there was enough mixture to do 4 fillets, dipped the salmon in the egg and then in the breadcrumbs, placed on grease proof paper on a wire rack in oven for about 20 minutes, gas mark 5.  Delicious, really delicious.

I'm keeping it short today, I want to say so much but can't, so I'm going to go make mom and me a cuppa and have a cuddle instead.  Love those around you as much as you can.  Family and friends are the most important part of your lives, never forget that and make time for them!
