Happy Valentine's Day BeYOUtiful. xx

14th February 2015
If you have good thoughts they will shine out of your face like sunbeams & you will always look lovely. Roald Dahl

Happy Valentine's Day!  Whether you bother with it or not, you should often tell those around you that you love them not just on a day called Valentine's when the flowers will cost you four times as much as normal!  Yeah a bunch of flowers in mid January 'just because' will make someone smile probably more, now there's a thought.

So I shall be spending my valentine morning with my members and the rest of the day with the most BeYOUtiful person in my world, my mom, I've been so busy the last few weeks, we've not sat down together much.  So I'm thinking a bit of jigsaw and a chat, I might even make her a nice afternoon tea of her own, now do I make the scones or nip in Sainsbury's and buy them, yeah I might go buy them, I can get a mixed box then.  I'll sit and watch her eat the cake as I've not got any weeklies left to be spending on scones at all!

As today's theme globally is 'love', stop for a minute and ask what you love about yourself, because let's be honest that's the most important kind of love.  Happiness starts within and as Whitney sang, "learning to love yourself is the greatest love of all", oh and I know they were George Bensons lyrics but she sang it in my era.  So what's fabulous about you?  What's your BeYOUtiful?  We all have it you know and I'm not talking the physical, because that's not the important stuff, it's the other stuff that attracts people to you.

Sadly so many don't see their BeYOUtiful, those traits that make others love them and that saddens me because I believe there's something loveable about us all.  Yep self love forms the foundation of your single, most important relationship, that's the one you have with yourself.  The strength of all your other relationships depends on it.

What is self love?  well let's start with what it isn't, self love doesn't mean being arrogant or egotistical, it's not about comparing yourself to others, nor putting yourself first at the expense of others.  It not about winning, getting your own way or only looking after number one.

Self love is accepting yourself as you are, that doesn't mean you can't work on changing but first of all you have to love and accept yourself 100% now.  Not just the physical you, the emotional one too, the good and bad, no one is always wonderful, we all have light and dark within us.  Knowing you are a lovable and worthwhile person just because is so important.  Self love means being able to set boundaries based on your values and honour them.  It's teaching others how to treat you by showing them how you treat yourself.  Self love involves being kind to yourself, taking care of your mind, body and soul.  It's knowing you are worth the effort, not because of what you have achieved or what you look like or what others think of you, but because love is your birthright no matter what.

And of course I always come back to food and weight loss because that's the world I'm living in.  So for those of you that are struggling at the moment with it all, remind yourself  you're BeYOUtiful, if you've been beating yourself up lately because you "just can't get your head into gear and do it" stop trying to be perfect, stop criticizing yourself for not being 'good enough'. As long as you always do your best, that's good enough.  Don't let anyone else's expectations of you put any pressure on your and take it from me, no matter what, you will always be perfect just the way you are, flaws and all, or those perfect imperfections as I like to see them.

Stop comparing yourself to others, we're all unique and have our own special gifts.  Comparisons usually make you feel bad about yourself so don't do it, instead focus on your own strengths and what makes you special.

Let's agree to love who you actually are rather than the person you wish you were!  Let's start to celebrate the effort we put in as well as the goals we hit, remember success is not a destination, success is making progress, so here's to focusing on the healthy and happy, accepting yourself and looking in the mirror and seeing the BeYOUtiful!

Happy Valentine's Day. Xx
