Here's to the weekend

11th November 2017
Spend time with those you love, one of these days you will say either ‘I wish I had’ or ‘I’m glad I did’.

Let’s talk about… NO let’s wait, we all know what it’s like to look at those gifts under the Christmas tree and want to open them now but imagine Christmas day if you did!  Mom and I did this many times and then Christmas day just becomes like any other day and you end up deflated, so please if you’re waiting to hear all about the improvements from Weight Watchers, enjoy the anticipation and wait until your meeting next week, it’ll be worth it I promise, call it an early Christmas gift from us.

Anyway back to this week and today, WOW we’ve been getting some fabulous results this week on my scales, I’ve been super impressed, I plan to be joining the weight loss wagon from next week, I’m not tracking again today but plan to start from tomorrow or Monday at the latest, I’m thinking tomorrow though, I’m ready now, I’ve got it all out of my system, we have a delicious M&S cottage pie for our dinner today then everything else in my house is reasonably pointed, there’s actually not a lot here still as I’ve not shopped yet, might go this morning as I have a £12 coupon if I spend £60 in Sainsbury’s and that runs out today, so yeah I’ll go straight from my meeting and buy healthy stuff, that’ll encourage me to get back on track and stop messing about.

Ooo could I do half stone before Christmas?  I could if I stopped messing about couldn’t I!  Time to stop messing about and eat well I reckon, I can have that cottage pie and still make the rest of the day sensible.  At least I’m sat here drinking my pint of water, that’s a good start.  Focusing on the positives today, that will help me improve, need a weekend with my mom enjoying ourselves, we’re going to watch movies and talk rubbish, maybe put some music on whilst I’m in the kitchen and mom can sing along from the living room.   Ooo I should’ve had a hatch put in that wall – maybe I won’t suggest that though eh, think we’ve had enough work done for now!

Ooo I’ve just had an idea, I’m going to experiment, slow cooker roast dinner….

I’m thinking a whole chicken, put some whole carrots, onions, sprouts in its carcass, then lay it on the contents of a box of stuffing, I think the juices that come out of the chicken will cook the stuffing, might have a go of that this weekend, see what happens.  The chicken will cook perfect regardless of what happens to the stuffing, could even wrap a couple of jacket spuds in foil and put on the top of the chicken if your slow cookers big enough, mines a little thing now, mom broke the big one.

I’m really looking forward to my weekend, I do have work stuff that needs doing before next week’s meetings but I’m gonna leave it all till Monday I reckon, maybe do an hour or two tomorrow morning before mom gets up – we shall see, I do know my phones going off when I get home at lunchtime and mom and me are forgetting the outside world.

Remember to enjoy your day your way!  Moms just got up, I'm off to make her a cuppa and sort her medication, love my world I do.

Oops...

10th November 2017
Eat glitter for breakfast and shine all day!  Better than eating dust ;)

OUCH, that’s all I’m saying about the scales, it all got ugly when I stepped on them last night, 3lb on, which means over the last 6 weeks I’ve regained 5lb – needs to stop now don’t it that!

I have enjoyed not having to think about any of it though if I’m honest, plus there’s rumblings of changes in the Weight Watcher world https://www.facebook.com/weightwatchersuk/videos/1495951723773774/ so I’ll restart when I announce them in my meetings next week and we can all get on it together and be successful in the run up to Christmas.

My grey peas are an epic batch I have to say, but there’s too many of them, I need to try and get a couple of tubs in the freezer for another day.  The beer recipe from yesterday ain’t worth doing by the way, it’s a waste of a good bottle of beer if I’m honest.

I know I’m not going to be on track over this weekend, I will however draw a line either Sunday or Monday and get focused, I feel ready now, just a bit of niceness left to have, some quality time to spend with my mom and then I’m on it.  Normally I have a week off at Christmas but I’m not this year so the damage won’t be as bad as it usually is.

The one thing I do like about where I am right now is I’m not stressing about it, my body will tell me when it’s had enough and I need to stop messing about.  I’ll do a good healthy shop and get my WWer on, pinky promise J

My fridge is virtually empty, my bread bin has week old bread in it, I really do need to get sorted, maybe a walk round the supermarket rather than doing it online, so I can see all the delicious fresh ingredients.  Yeah I like that idea, I’m thinking lots of fruit and veggies, wonder if I can convince mom to come for a drive, I’m sure they do wheelchairs in Sainsbury’s we could borrow one and play rebels whizzing her round there!

Anyway, I do have quite a lot to get through this morning, work stuff, need to make sure I’m ready for you lot next week – exciting ain’t it.  I’d tell ya but it’s a secret and if I did I’d have to kill ya! And we don’t want that do we because then I’d be in a cell and who would look after my mom and my meetings, no you can all wait till next week, it’s worth it I promise.

Right enough of this, time to get to it.  Here’s to a cracking good day BeYOUtiful, remember to smile. xx

In a minute...

9th November 2017
One of the most sincere forms of respect is actually listening to what another has to say.

Been awake since half three, happy days!  I enjoyed just lying there for half hour and knowing I didn’t have to move yet, then when I did move, I played Candy Crush because my work day is already going to be long enough today without starting it any earlier.

I went to Michael’s funeral yesterday and it got me to thinking that he had the right idea, the two things I remember about him were he laughed a lot, he loved a chuckle and I shared many a joke with him.  He also wouldn’t be rushed, he most used words were “In a minute!”  If Michael was in the moment as he always was - he wasn’t worrying about where he had to be, what he had to do, what he’d forgot to do, what everyone else wanted him to do - you weren’t convincing him he needed to be somewhere else, he was enjoying that moment.  We could all learn a lot from the memory of Michael, he even died well, in his sleep, who doesn’t want that!  Maybe a little before his time but then he enjoyed his 50 years more than most 50 year olds are enjoying theirs!

I didn’t have time to go to the wake but in memory and respect of him, I sat in my car and ate fish and chips (a mini special) because they were his favourite and another thing I’d realised is since he’s passed away, I’ve craved chips constantly, is he encouraging me to eat chips from the other side ;)

I did cook me a big pan of grey peas to last me a few days, plus the salmon will be defrosted now for us to eat today, that’s lunch sorted and I don’t need to worry about food preparation at all today thankfully.

I will however be getting this in the slow cooker ready for tomorrow, it sounds really tasty and low in smart points.  It’d go lovely with chips or rice and veggies.

Crock Pot Beer Chicken Serves 8, 2sp each.

  • 2lbs skinless, boneless chicken breasts (9sp)
  • 1 bottle or can of your favourite beer (8sp)
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1 tsp garlic powder
  • 1 tbsp dried oregano
  • 1/2 tsp black pepper
  1. Place all ingredients in the crock pot, and cook on high for 4-5 hrs, or low for 6-8 hrs.
  2. Feel free to change out the spices and herbs and use whatever you’d like.

It’d be nice in a pitta bread too with lots of salad and a bottle of beer to drink on a Saturday night!

Anyway, let’s get this day started, 7 more meetings left this week and then I plan to spend the weekend taking care of me, I might get my shed or my office sorted, I might not, I might sit in front of the tele chilling, I will decide when I decide.  Whatever you’re up to remember laugh a lot and take your time sometimes, stop and enjoy the moment. x
