Sweating like a bitch!

Sunday 15th August 2021
Nothing changes if nothing changes

I love Saturday's, actually I love every day these days, but what I like about Saturdays is we have a great huddle, plenty of chuckles, no rushing after because I don't have to be anywhere, that's what I love most about my life at the minute other than at work, I don't have to be anywhere unless I decide to be, it's great.  I do want and like some routine in my life though and I really do what exercise to be one of those routines.  I keep saying I don't like it but that's not true, what I don't like is that every time I try to start, I end up hurting something, which then takes ages to get better.  Fingers crossed though I think I'm onto a winner, yes my muscles were tight yesterday but I decided to give the video a second go, deciding I could stop if I was too sore.  https://youtu.be/g22GI6OEPDU is the link and I made it through, it was a sweaty mess but I got to the end and I also did the 4 minute arm one too https://youtu.be/a42wtkZsAfI, this is the hot mess I was at the end.

As you can see though, there's a smile on my face and that's why I want exercise to be part of my daily routine because I know it's good for me, I want to be healthy!  Plus 30 minutes of activity can improve your mood for up to 12 hours afterwards, how great is that.  A decent half hour walk is a great way to start, I love a good walk, although we know Alfie ain't too keen on it some days and his speed varies massively!  Being outside is good for your mental health though, I don't care how slow he walks, I always enjoy our walks.

I'm going to have a go at the 30 minute routine again this morning, hopefully my muscles will let me, but if I struggle, I'll build up and maybe try one of his walking routines, I've also got some weeding to do if it doesn't rain today!

Another routine or habit I'd like to develop is cooking for one not four!  I'd like to put together a collection of meals for one, that I enjoy eating, so that I have plenty of healthy go to meals to choose from.  Not for everyone I know but I knocked up a spaghetti dish yesterday with tinned pilchards in tomato sauce and I enjoyed it.

50g wholewheat spaghetti (think I'd up this to 60g next time)
200g pilchards in tomato sauce (I'll buy the 155g can next time as it's a single portion)
10 black olives cut in half
2 garlic cloves sliced thinly
4 shallots (or 1 onion) sliced
1/2 tbsp Parmesan cheese
Sundried tomatoes or any tomatoes
handful of peas

Whilst the spaghetti was cooking, fry the onions and garlic in a little oil in a frying pan, break the pilchards into bite size pieces and add along with the tomatoes, peas and olives.  Drain spaghetti once cooked and stir through the rest of the ingredients, serve, top with grated parmesan and enjoy.

I'll add that to our website later www.behappyowls.com, make sure you're subscribed.

Well I've got our huddle zoom at 9, I'm thinking I might do my workout now beforehand, always best to get it out the way first thing, stops me changing my mind. Then I'll shower and do my third routine I want to get into the habit of doing, which is looking after the outside of my body as well as the inside. I've been using my cleanser, toner and moisturiser for a long time now and this week I've introduced body lotion, I've got it from Vicky (have a chat with her, the stuff is amazing), I've only used it a couple of times so far and I can already feel the difference, it only takes a couple of minutes to put on when I get out the shower, I feel like I'm taking care of myself again which makes me want to eat better because that's also going to make me feel better. It's the whole holistic approach isn't it. After the last 18 months or so we've all experienced, if we survived with should be thankful and be doing everything we can to take care of ourselves, appreciate and cherish our bodies.

I'll leave you with that thought because I need to go sweat like a bitch,

Mwah, luv ya

Love me xx
