You have the power to change!

 Sunday 7th January 2024

This quote really caught my eye this morning and made me smile because it is so true, who would we be without the stories we tell ourselves!  It really is important to love ourselves but we also need to analyse and be critical of how you think, act and behave daily.  Self love without self awareness is useless, we need to be accountable for our behaviour.

I'm working on this for sure, I have a few 'stories' I tell myself to justify unhealthy habits and I'm starting to question them and my thoughts and so far, so good, it's working.  I know it's only day 7 but it has to start somewhere!

Yesterday was a really good day, such a busy morning at our huddle started my weekend off, so good to be back and even better to see so many, ready to take control and look after themselves.  Our members truly inspire me!  I'm particularly grateful to Alison for allowing the banter between us in the chats and being okay with it, you truly are a wonderful lady who smiles whatever life throws at you.

Once home, I attended to the patient, went and got him stuff for his symptoms, which helped a little.  He took Night Nurse when we went to bed so at least he's slept, I swear by Night Nurse and always have, whatever's wrong with you, if you can get a decent sleep, it helps.

We spent the day watching tele, we finished Mr Bates vs the Post Office, brilliant, made me cry, things like this shouldn't happen, so scary.  Next we watched Platform 7, very good 4 parter and finally we are watching The Long Shadow, again a true story that took too long to solve!  ITVx had some really good stuff on it.

We didn't go to bed till gone ten but I was falling asleep on the sofa, he wanted to try and finish the Long Shadow, I couldn't keep my eyes open and said I'd watch what I missed when he wasn't there.  Fitbit tells me my sleep was EXCELLENT just shy of 8 hours.

Food wise, I skipped breakfast as was in a rush to get to work and not hungry, but ate some raspberries when I got home, I ate lunch just before noon though, had the rest of the hotpot, resisted bread with it.  Then for dinner at 5pm we had the quorn thing I'd made yesterday, it was okay, a little sweet I felt, it had tasted better when I made it yesterday, I wasn't really hungry, not sure what's going on there, I'm not hungry, hungry like I usually am, but I enjoyed the mash and tenderstem brocolli and I'll freeze the leftover quorn thing, it would be nice in wraps with a bit of cheese I reckon!  It didn't look very good on the plate, I don't think that helped, I warmed it in a pan, think I should've microwaved it so it didn't break up like it did.

I had a couple of crackers later after my wine and that was my day, ended on 1245 calories, so I've pulled back a few calories from the beginning of the week, if I can be 20 calories below my daily allowance today, I'll have broken even over the week.  I'll take that to say I consumed 2834 calories on Tuesday!

It's helped that he's not well if I'm honest because he hasn't wanted to go out, he had a craving for chicken nuggets yesterday so I nipped to get them and I'm not tempted by them at all, I also resisted the maccy's the day before.  I'm embracing the resisting right now, long may it last!  I've also got a bottle of 0% alcohol gin that I'm going to use to replace some of my glasses of wine, break the habit of having 'another' glass.  Nothing wrong with enjoying some wine though, some people do chocolate, I don't I like wine!

I haven't decided what we're eating today, I have these meals coming with my HelloFresh order tomorrow which look delicious but I have to work out what to do today.

As we have a pasta dish, a couscous dish and mash dish to look forward too as well as tacos, I'm thinking something with rice or chips today, I'm also aware he's not got much of an appetite with his being poorly.  Mmm what to cook....  I ordered those two side dishes to try and get Aryn to try new things, especially as I had the voucher off the box, I thought I'd treat us.

I have fish in batter or fish fingers in freezer, that's an option.  I have 3 bags of sprouts to do something with, I might freeze them, but if anyone has any magic recipes, let me know!  I did spot a soup recipe on Pinterest, wonder what that would taste like!  I'm gonna try it I think Simple Brussels Sprout Soup - Everyday Healthy Recipes sounds different!

I'm gonna start the day with a tasty breakfast first, I've got tomatoes, mushrooms and eggs, possibly a bit of bacon with my toast, yeah I've got an appetite this morning.  I bought sausages for himself but I've bought the Stamford Street ones from Sainsbury's £1.50 for 8, it'll be interesting to see if he comments, I mean if they're on a sandwich with ketchup, how observant are people?  I'm quite fussy about sausages but as they're processed and high in saturated fat, I'm trying to not eat them too regularly going forward.

It's all about balance isn't it!  I'm still gonna eat sausages just not every weekend for breakfast!   Oooo sausages, onion gravy, mash and peas - now you're talking!

Well it's almost 8am, I have the whole day ahead, the living room looks like a bombs hit it so I think I'll try and tidy it up before he gets out of bed and throws himself on the sofa all sick like and pathetic :)

I'd do my jigsaw if I could clear the damn coffee table of his water, drugs, medicine, cough sweets etc!  I'll give it a go, maybe put all this stuff in a box for an hour, he won't be impressed when he gets up but meh, do I care!

Here's to finishing my week on track, day 7 of 366 in 2024, wow that sounds like nothing but it is 1.91% and every day grows that percentage and works on my health a little bit more.  I need to try and do something to take some pressure off my back and knees, I'm in bloody pain and I don't like it.  I'm getting cramps in my sleep, had to take painkillers yesterday to just get comfortable, I don't like it at all.  I have tried to continue moving, I walked over the shop, I did manage to hit 7,279 steps yesterday, my target each day is 6.5k and I've hit there every day since Wednesday, here's to continuing to do that, today will be harder as I don't go anywhere, maybe a walk!

Right I'm off, I'm rambling, here's to a great day,

Mwah, luv ya

Love me xx
