I can't fault our NHS!

Friday 12th January 2024

Well I was very pleased with the results on the scales yesterday 2.5lb lost taking my total back up to 18.5lb and taking me back under the next stone bracket, 1/2lb a week will be good enough going forward, any mores a bonus.

We had a busy and enjoyable day yesterday started off with both Elle and I losing weight, I only had a banana and satsuma for breakfast, I'd taken it with me, too early and too much going on in the house before I left for work.

I got a phone call whilst at our second huddle regarding my 'urgent suspected cancer referral' (as the leaflet I was text calls it!) anyway a lovely lady from the hospital wanted to ask me more questions regarding my bleeding etc, she informed me that she would pass all this on to the consultant and they may or may not want to see me, often they leave it for 6 weeks to see if it settles down because of the HRT.  However she called me back an hour later to let me know that they did want to see me urgently because of both the frequency of the bleeding and also because I have in the past had treatment on abnormal cells (that was in my 20s).  We had a chat, she explained what they would do an Historoscopy it's called, I'll need to go with a full bladder and they'll scan from outside, then I'll have a wee to empty my bladder and they'll go inside (nice) with a camera to check things out.  It'll either be nothing serious and if it is something i.e. cancer, the good news is they'll have caught it quick thanks to the bleeding.  She said to take a couple of painkillers beforehand and maybe take the rest of the day off, that's when she asked me what I did and it turned out she knew about Be Happy Owls and the lady who works in their shop comes to us :)

I'm positive and I'm not going to stress about what might be, what will be will be and worrying won't do anything other than give me another problem, we have enough of those in this house right now with the male specious!

I could've used this as an excuse to eat but I didn't, I went home and cooked the last of our HelloFresh meals, it wasn't until I was serving it up that I thought, there's not enough food here for 4 people, there's not enough for the 3 of us, it was them I realised there was only half the linguine in the parcel that was required for the recipe, hey ho, nevermind it was thankfully only lunch. I let HelloFresh know and they put a £4 credit on my account.

Aryn and I decided to have a short walk when I got back from work at 7, so I suggested they have takeaway pizza for tea as a treat, so we walked to the pizza shop and back to collect them and I RESISTED - check me out!  I've fancied pilchards all week and they were delicious.  I opened a big can and decided I would put on the toast what I wanted not looking at how much it weighed, when I did weigh it, I had put exactly 1/3rd of the can which is the recommended portion - that impressed me.

Yesterday was also the first day in a good while I haven't had heartburn or indigestion.  I finished on track and within budget again so I used 1458 calories according to Nutracheck and Fitbit tells me I burned 2275 calories, did 9639 steps so definitely a deficit there.  Just checking the month so far, I've burned an average of 2,022 calories a day, according to Nutracheck, I've consumed an average of 1,471 a day this month, so as long as I keep a distance between the two all should be good.  They reckon 3500 calories is a pound, so a pound a week is 500 calories difference per day, as long as I do 250 calories difference I should lose that 1/2lb.

I bought them both dressing gowns for Christmas and I pinched his in the night to go to the bathroom, I'm still wearing it, I'm thinking I've either got to steal it from him or buy my own, it's so snuggly but without being heavy.  I like it a lot, mines a big heavy towelling one that I only wear when I get out the shower because I don't dry myself properly, so it's just a big towel with arms really!

Now to the really important stuff - what to eat today?  I'm fancying chicken, maybe a chicken dinner, but then I have a joint of beef in the freezer that I was going to defrost to do a beef dinner on Sunday, I thought I could use some of the beef leftovers to make a spag bol thing.  I could do chicken and black bean wraps, proper get our healthy on and my treat could be eating the skin of the chicken if I buy a whole one - mmmmmmmmm.

Himself is wanting comfort food, easy to eat stuff, chicken and chips maybe, ooo egg and chips for dinner and chicken with cobs for lunch, now that's an idea, put some salad on their plates.  Yeah I think that's a good idea.  I even fancy baked beans with those chips, sorted.

The big job of the day is taking both cats to the vets, I ordered two carry boxes from amazon but now they've been put together, I think I'm going to struggle to get Coco in one, they're not very big!  We shall see, at least I have him here to help (my eyes went to the sky then!) me get them in.

Let's have a super Friday, thankfully no going to the pub cos he's poorly, that's helping my 'diet' for sure!

Mwah, luv ya

Love me
