Together

Sunday 1st January 2023
Life is better together.

"Together" that's the word I've decided will be my word for 2023!  After some thought and other words, this one popped into my head as I lay in bed to go to sleep.  Mostly because it has more than one meaning for me, before I feel asleep I picked up my phone and typed this so I wouldn't forget - I know what my memories like;

Together
Get my act together
Be together
Work together
Stay together

Yep, together has more than one meaning for me, 'get my act together' covers a multitude of things, from my eating/drinking habits, my activity levels, my emotions and how I handle situations.  Be together is obvious I guess, but not just with himself and Aryn, but with others that bring smiles to my world and even these crazy cats that I've missed over the last few weeks, they're bonkers!

Work together, I think Elle and I already do that well, but you can always work on things and improve.  Can you believe our members lost an incredible 650 stone in 2022!  We'd love to help so many more lose weight and feel great in 2023.

Stay together, I don't doubt that for a moment but again, it doesn't hurt to work on that either, never take what you have for granted...

There's only one way to get through some things and that's together and 2022 once again proved that once again.

Did you think about what your word would be?  Read my blog from 30th December if you haven't already.

Oh it was good to get back home last night around 9, we'd left the house in Ireland about 12 hours earlier, stopping for 5 minutes to say goodbye to his dad and for about 20 minutes to do the same to his mom, then we drove to Dublin Port and waited for the ferry, then thankfully a pretty calm crossing before driving from Holyhead home.  Rain was the common factor all the way home, actually rain has been the theme of the fortnight, damn when it rains in Ireland, it really does rain.

The house was so cold when we walked in, himself moaned for a good couple of hours before giving up and going to bed!  It's warm now thankfully and they're both sleeping, hopefully for a good few hours yet so I can have another mug of the best tea ever, oh I've missed my Yorkshire tea, my longlife UHT milk and my sweeteners, it's how I like my tea and I couldn't get any of those things where we were, even the sweeteners from Lidls were stevia and didn't quite cut it.  I can't explain it but tea doesn't seem to stay hot very long there either, I don't know if the kettles don't warm the water as hot lol, but anyway I've just enjoyed a bloody lovely mug of tea and I'm ready for another.

I'm sat here knowing I have a lot of sorting out to do, putting stuff away, washing etc not looking forward to any of it.  I have defrosted leftover spag bol in the fridge that I bought back with us, so that could be lunch, I might have mine in tacos rather than with pasta, or maybe on a jacket potato.  I'd be lying if I said I was getting my healthy back today, I won't but I am ready for some healthy eating and I'm looking forward to it.  I enjoyed a bowl of pea soup on the boat yesterday and it made me realise I need to include soup in my meals more often, it was delicious, but not tinned stuff so much, the good fresh stuff.

I had a Fitbit for Christmas, it's been interesting watching my sleep pattern for starters, 75-89 score, it'll be even more interesting to see how that changes when life get's back to 'normal' as in going to work, getting up in the morning etc.  I was impressed that I actually hit the 6,944 steps target it set a few times, especially as I've been a lazy bird most of the time, I even had one day where I had 58 zone minutes which is heart pumping activity apparently, that was the day I did some housework and danced around the kitchen cooking, so that might encourage me to do more housework, because the day we cut logs and I carried then from the garden to the house, I only got 15 zone minutes and that activity killed my back, I was in agony on the night.

I want to say we've had a brilliant fortnight but I'd be lying because of 'access' issues, other than that though, we did have a lovely time, a calm quiet Christmas, he got to catch up with his family who are lovely, he spent a day clearing out his dads shed which is a much bigger task than it sounds, so he feels better for helping.  In an ideal world we'd have a lot longer there to get all the jobs done on the house he wants to do, but you can't do it all at once, this time we got Aryn's bedroom finished by laminating the floor, we got the one bathroom finished, it's now tiled and good to go.  He never got round to changing the curtain pole in our bedroom but I'll let him off :) those walls need painting first anyway I guess and I'd like a new carpet in there too.  See it's never-ending and I want my kitchen painting now we're home!

Not today though, today I hope is going to be a calm day watching the tele we couldn't get in Ireland, the amount of times I went to watch something to get the message 'not available in your area', it's a different country after all and not part of the UK.

Happy New Year to you and yours, I hope you enjoy the first day of 2023 and use it to set the scene for how you want the rest of the year to be.

Mwah, luv ya

Love me xx
