Relief...

Tuesday 10th January 2023
Another day to make a difference.

Did you just read 'treat yourself Tuesday' and thought of food?  There are other ways to treat yourself, start thinking of them, but it could be food and it could be healthy delicious food, I made a delicious cottage pie with a cheesy topping yesterday for under 500 calories per portion, used up the leftover gravy from Sunday too.

To make it healthy, I left the skin on the potatoes and added diced onions, carrots, peas and red peppers. I even added 200g of grated cheese because split over 6 portions, that doesn't work out too high.

So my day went like this, dropped Aryn off at his new school at 8.30, then sat at the end of the road for 10 minutes to make sure he didn't come back out and change his mind!  Nipped to Aldi for mince with himself and even he said we need to start splitting our food shop and do some in either Aldi or Lidl because he could see the price difference on things. Although I've just looked at the 750g beef mince is exactly the same price in both, I know Sainsbury's do a lot of Aldi price match.  What I have noticed is you have to check the kg price because something looks cheaper but there's less in the packet.

Next we went to Asda for more school trousers and shirts, he's grown a lot in a year, easily 6 inches, basically I was trying to distract myself from thinking about how his first day was going!   We came home and watched the latest episode of 1923 which is brilliant, Tyler Sheridan is an excellent creator of tv series, I didn't know until just he's an actor too, he was in Sons of Anarchy.

I did a bit of housework, had a shower, made my cottage pie and eventually it was time to pick him up, thankfully he said it went okay, you know kids, question "did you have a good day" answer "yes".   I did get a bit more out of him, like the classes are longer than he thought they'd be, the fibre one doughnuts were delicious can he have more please and he did English, Maths and Science, lots of notes in his pockets but no homework for a couple of weeks hopefully until he's settled and he picks his options.

RELIEF!

We ate our pie together and watched the rest of Wednesday on Netflix, we loved it, what a great series to watch together as a family, if a little dark.  Although himself left us too it and went for a pint over the pub, he wasn't interested in that kind of tv thing.

Once Aryn was bored with my company and disappeared upstairs, I nipped over to join him and have a couple of halves myself to celebrate what's taken us over a year to achieve - full time school.

We had an early night and watched the Prime film Leo Grande, it was different!

I've been awake since half four but that's okay, I'm not tired, I've had my shower, a lovely mug of tea and I'm just looking at the Hello Fresh recipes I've got to choose from for the next few days, I'll let Aryn choose what we have today I think.  I'll drop him off again this morning on my way to work, let him settle in before he starts walking alone.

Here's to a less pre occupied day, looking forward to our huddle this morning, it's my official weigh day, I've not been brilliant but I've been better, so we shall see what they have to say, my life is good and that's the most important thing, I can only do my best to take care of myself.

Let's have a great day

Mwah, luv ya

Love me x
