Looking back 3 years but focusing on today!

Thursday 29th February 2024

Weigh day for me and I'm feeling positive for a loss but we'll take whatever it says, I'm within my weekly allowance so I can't do any more - well I probably could but I'm not willing too!

This is my week,

So I hope for a result :)  I didn't make the gym yesterday my pain was too bad, but I still managed 38 zone minutes throughout the day which is great for me - no wonder I was in pain.

Speaking of pain, my physio was a bit tough this morning but again I did it, I don't want to get up at 5am but I do want to give my body its best change to heal and handle the days ahead.

I ate well yesterday, didn't eat till 11 after huddle and had avocado on toast with egg, cress, smoked trout and plum tomatoes.  I broke my egg as I was taking it out the pan but it was still delicious.  Later on I had the rest of the trout on sme of the leftover bulger wheat with veg, ate it cold, it was tasty.

Then for dinner I'd bought some 'whoopsies' from Sainsburys, starters Dim Sum which the lads had, then chicken in satay sauce with sticky jasmine rice and beef in black bean sauces with egg fried rice - I split them between them too and just had a spoon of each of the meat part.  We then shared crispy seaweed and duck shredded with a hoisin sauce.  I did the side salad stuff which encourage me to have some and those sweet potato chips on my plate, he had half of as I'd forgot they were in the oven after I'd served them theirs so he helped himself off my plate.  They didn't taste so good being cooked in oven much better done in air fryer.

That was my food day, did enjoy a glass of red too, all within my allowance so all good.

My alcohol intake is a hell of a lot lower than it was 3 years ago!  This post came up in my memories on Facebook yesterday and made me realise how different things are now, life still isn't stress free but who's is, yet in comparison to this, it's bliss!

This is the blog from that day - Bevs World: A day in the life of...... (wwbevsworld.blogspot.com)

I was asked on Saturday if my old blogs could be accessed and yes they can, Bevs World (wwbevsworld.blogspot.com) that link will take you to the blog intro and all the links are down the right hand side.  I know my blogs are repetitive these days but that's a good thing for me, maybe not so interesting for you!

Whatever is going on in your life right now, if it's not great, believe in the future it can improve xx

Upping the veggies!

Wednesday 28th February 2024

I could've stayed in bed this morning, alarm went off at 5.30, I told her to reset for 6 but got up 15 minutes later, I've had 7hrs 37m apparently but still felt tired, it's the awake for over an hour in-between that's not the best.  I'm good now though, just finished my physio and realised even though some of it is difficult the stretching parts relax me and that hour gets me ready for the day, even if it does mean I have to get up an hour early!

Yesterday went well, almost 8k steps 2,321 calories burned even managed 12 zone minutes on the fitbit!  Only consumed 1,348 calories so I've pulled it back quite well as long as I stick within calories today, I should get a loss tomorrow 1/2lb will do me, anymore is a bonus!  I'm in no rush anymore, I just want a realistic weight loss and a healthy diet that I enjoy without feeling like I'm missing out.

I was hungry at breakfast so had this, it was a last minute no thought breakfast to use up stuff, I only remembered the mushroom a minute before everything was cooked so threw a bit in the airfryer with the chicken sausages.  It was delicious though but I had acid afterwards which I think was from the sausage, who knows lol.

I did the same with dinner, made it up as I went along, started by putting a pan of bulgar wheat on, then dicing lots of veg - carrot, yellow pepper, green beans, spring onions, olives, tomatoes, then added the bulgar wheat once cooked and a couple of handfuls of spinach, served it with salmon.  Everyone enjoyed it, cost me 598 calories and there's a good large portion left so it might have been a few less calories.

I did pick on a couple of things like 25g of unsalted peanuts I found in cupboard and a few slices of ham.

Not sure what's on the menu today but I do need to do a shop at some point, I want to wander round the store and have a good look for ideas.

Here's to a great day, let's make it a step towards our goals.

Here's to another great day!

Tuesday 27th February 2024

It was a busy day yesterday!  Appointment at the gym at 7.30, physio at 11, then we went out for lunch as a treat as we didn't go out at the weekend.   Both appointments were useful, I still need to work on my cholesterol, hoped it would've come down a little since my last one but hey ho, we shall continue with what I'm doing and improve along the way.  Physio massaged my butt which has loosened up that muscle thankfully and gave me different exercises which I've done this morning, they were harder but I managed them so that shows I'm making progress.

When I got back and he suggested eating out, I was all for that but I didn't want to go crazy with the calories and I have to say I totally enjoyed both of these meals.

I fancied a burger but the beef one wasn't on the fixed menu so I decided to try the plant-based burger and I wasn't disappointed at all it was tasty, looking at the menu it says smashed avocado was on the burger, it can't have been a lot if any as I don't remember seeing or tasting any!  Calamari isn't usually a starter of choice but I really enjoyed it, he had 3 of the pieces as it got a bit greasy the more I had, I'm not a massive batter fan but he loved it and asked me to buy some to eat at home.  Those pickled pink onions were delicious, I might try making my own.

I'd already done my workout on the morning between appointments but I took Aryn back after school and I did another half hour on the recumbent bike, so check out my Fitbit day yesterday -

103 active minutes!  Those 7,641 steps are in addition to the hour I spent on the bike because that doesn't register as steps.  I also did 15 minutes on treadmill to check my progress of my physio and exercise/weight loss.  I managed the 15 minutes, the sciatica pain in my calf started to hurt at 2 minutes, the pain was in the top of my leg by 3 minutes but it wasn't unbearable where I had to stop until 15 minutes, so I'll keep doing that weekly maybe and see how it goes.

I only consumed 1290 calories so pulled a few back there, think I'm gonna be okay by weigh day, will have evened up as long as I'm okay today and tomorrow which I'll make sure I am!

I feel good this morning, my muscles are a little sore and tight from doing exercises but that's a good feeling it's not the horrible I want to cry version!

Salmon for dinner today, just to decide what to serve it with or how to cook it - decisions, decisions :)  Looking forward to this weeks chat in the huddle it's all about takeaways and fakeaways.

Right I best get ready for work,

Mwah, luv ya

In a rush!

 Monday 26th February 2024

Short one this morning as I've got to be at the gym by half seven!  Having a check up, so it's a fasting one, see if my cholesterol is any different to last year at the docs when they said the triglycerides had risen from 0.4 to 1.1!  My overall cholesterol was fine though.

I did go over my calories again yesterday but it was all tracked, consumed 2003, Fitbit says I only burned 1,821, that's what sitting on your backside all day does for you!

I need to have a good few days now, no wine, lower calorie intake!  This shows the differences between burned and consumed since I was weighed Thursday!

I did enjoy my food though, we had a messy omelette with a couple of Heck chicken sausages for breakfast which kept me going till dinner time.

I forgot how good those Heck sausages are for the calories!  I'd happily eat them on a sandwich when he has his bacon or sausage sandwiches.

Dinner I went a little crazy with my gravy as you can see, I didn't want to leave a bit in the pan and I do love gravy.  We had apple pie for pudding and for the very first time I tried it with ice cream as I didn't want to open a whole carton of custard for just me.  I was pleasantly surprised, I would definitely have it again!

That was my food day, we watched a good film, definitely recommend.  We then watched Beef on Netflix, weird, I can't tell you if I liked it or not, but I did fall asleep a couple of times and couldn't wait for it to end!

Right I need to go as I've got this appointment, then a physio appointment at half eleven then I've got to write notes for huddle at some point so a busy day off.

Have a realistic, good day, track it regardless, I'm starting day 57 of 100%, honest tracking! Oh I've just remembered I need to add my Aldi actimel onto yesterdays tracker forgot that.

Definitely wasn't extreme yesterday!

 Sunday 25th February 2024

We had a great huddle yesterday, lots of success, laughter and just a great way to spend your Saturday morning. When I got back I made us poached eggs on crumpet which were delicious because I put butter on them too!  Set me back 573 calories with my actimel.

Didn't eat again till later though when I made us an Asian meal deal, I only had a bit of rice and let them share the salt & pepper chicken to save me a few calorie.  I ate that bowl of salad and the tomatoes and olives, I should've resisted the garlic bread but I didn't so ended on -230 over the day, that did include a few hours in the pub though, had 3 halves of Guinness whilst watching the rugby and some red wine when I got back.

Pathetic attempt at my five a day didn't even hit 2!  Will have fruit for breakfast today, mango and satsumas I think, maybe I'll add apple and chop up a fruit salad, we'll see.   Over the day I more or less broke even, intake 2007 calories, burned 2083, must try harder!

It appears to a bit grim out there, slightly snowing in the greyness, thankfully I don't have to go anywhere today, day of rest!  He did mention taking me out for an Indian tonight so we shall see, I'm not fussed but a bit of us time would be nice I guess and I do love a bit of tandoori chicken!

Time to go clean up the kitchen and put a load of washing on, although Coco is insisting on a bit of love right now!

Enjoy your day, I plan too,

Mwah, luv ya

Good Carvery, don't like the queues though!

Saturday 24th February 2024

Yawning this morning, awake every hour didn't go to bed till ten and up by half five, apps saying 6.5hrs sleep,  I like more, I like sleep I do!

Went for a carvery yesterday lunchtime at the Nickleodean, it was tasty, I don't like having to queue though, first to pay then to get the carvery, my pain don't like it, Elle queued to pay for me then we queued for food.

Soon adds up on the calories though, although I don't necessarily agree with the figures on their counters, it had 200+ for the Yorkshire - nah, the giant ones you get in supermarkets are only that much!  I still tracked it all as 1190 using the app, I had 2 yorkies as they hadn't got any by the time Elle got there so they bought us a basket over later.  I counted mine as Brewers Fayre Yorkshire's.  I could've eaten more of it! I didn't have any dinner later so was well under my daily allowance, ending on 1366 calories having used 2,228 on Fitbit.

I did tidy the spare room at least the clothes are all put away, it isn't how I'd like it but that would take a day and new furniture in the form of drawers which aren't a priority right now plus they're a bitch to put together.

Not much else happened yesterday so I'll keep it brief, only 3.4 portions of veggies, must try harder!

Here's to a great day,

Mwah, luv ya

Feeling positive!

 Friday 23rd February 2024

You don't have to be extreme just be consistent!  I reminded myself of that this week, I've had an incredible start to my year with my weight loss, however I enjoy food and red wine and I'm not willing to give it up completely so my weight loss will slow down now as I find a healthy balance between it all!   I lost 1/2lb which is 2lb of pressure off my joints, 1/2lb a week is still 2 stone a year!

My focus this week is fruit and veg as that's what we're discussing in the huddles, I had fruit for breakfast, this for lunch which was delicious, sweetcorn, black beans and cherry tomatoes with a bit of sweet chilli sauce, soft boiled eggs and avocado on toast, I really enjoyed it, ignore that bit of shell, I did remove it :)

Dinner was corned beef hash again, but I cooked this one in air fryer, it was better cooked that way than in the microwave, bit of cabbage and baby corns.

Finished my day with red wine and a pack of mini cheddars and ended on 1654 calories, so 123 calories leftover and I burned 2024 according to Fitbit, so a deficit which is what I want.  As himself said last night when I said I'd lost 1/2lb and as long as I can do that every week I'd be happy, he replied or stay the same now and again is okay too and he's right.

I'm off for a carvery at lunchtime so will just have a bit of fruit for breakfast and enjoy my lunch.

Lazy day today possibly or I might attempt tidying the spare room, we'll see!

Mwah, luv u

Weigh day!

 Thursday 22nd February 2024

Another week complete and I'm ready for the scales, I have managed a 2,683 deficit according to the apps so we shall see if I get a result!  I haven't been very active at all though thanks to a flare up in my pain, no gym or walks but I've still got the deficit because I've managed to do some moving!

Yesterdays food looked like this fruit and a crumpet for breakfast, a chicken salad sandwich and the M&S corned beef hash which was okay, turns out Aryn has had it before and he doesn't like it so now I have to eat the other one again today so as not to waste it!  They've put cheese on it, I've never had hash with cheese, don't get me wrong cheese makes everything better but it adds extra calories that aren't necessary on that meal!

Elle gave me some low sugar ketchup to try and I compared it with the Aldi cheap one and I could tell a difference but not a massive one, if you eat a lot of ketchup it's worth a try.  Don't just taste it without your chips or meal because then you can tell a difference.  Managed my 5 a day there easily, you do have to think about it though!  I had my hungry head on again yesterday, thought about food most of the day, ending up going over a bit but not loads and it's all tracked.

It's proper raining outside, horrible weather but at least it ain't snowing!   We've got a busy day, it's all indoors so that's all good, we're in the snooker room at the Mem today so entrance is round the back of the building.

I'll take whatever the scales give me today, I'd love a loss but if it's a maintain, I'll take that too because I have lost 12lb this year and we're only 7 weeks in, so that's a great result, focus on the positives.  2 stone in total, I need to keep focusing on my WHY!  No heartburn or indigestion this week and I've had butter so maybe it's being overweight and eating too much that causes it and losing some weight has helped!

Right I need to get ready for work, here's to a great day, do your best,

Mwah, luv ya

Love me xx

Let Tracker day 52 begin

Wednesday 21st February 2024

Another day finished on track, using all my calories though as I'm hungry and this is for the long term, so it's okay having low days for a few weeks to give yourself a boost to start but long term it's just going to make me crave stuff!  This is for long term success not short term results!

This is my new favourite meal, soft boiled eggs on toast, less hassle than doing the dunking in the egg and comes out without losing any :) Itcost me 416 calories with the actimel but so worth it and no heartburn or indigestion again - happy days!  Maybe losing some weight has helped with that - who knows.

I had my main meal at lunchtime, I'm hungry the last few days, I have weeks where I'm not hungry then days when I could eat my own head!  Having said that I did leave half those potatoes again so I can be filled up.

When I got home I fancied a sandwich to use up some of the leftover chicken and threw a few tomatoes on the side, trying to get my 5 a day!

I also enjoyed a blood red orange, so sweet, not had one for years.

I've fancied a crumpet for a week now so had it this morning for breakfast, plus that fruit is 304 calories, the crumpet wasn't all that and the fruits still there at the minute but it will be eaten.

I've got beans and baby corns with corned beef hash from the freezer for dinner so that's my 5, I'm going to have a chicken salad for lunch which is another portion or two depending on it's weight.
I have an avocado which I could add to that salad, we'll see how I feel, I've bought some because of how good for us they are and Aryn can put in his smoothie!

My pain was powerful yesterday so I rested when I could, stuck a heat pad on when I got home at lunchtime and it's still there now, they last about 24 hours not sure it does anything but it seems to make me feel better just doing it.  I'm a little better this morning, my physio was easier anyway, whether it'll stay that way, we shall see ;)

I've got a couple of episodes of One Day left to watch so that's my afternoon sorted, we'll go to the gym later whether I'll do the bike or not will depend how I get on this morning.

Right let's get ready for the day, weathers grim but I don't care, I'm in a good mood, I've woke pretty much every hour to reposition my body but I do go back to sleep and I've managed about 7 hours according to Fitbit so I'll take that!

Enjoy your day,

Mwah, luv you,

Love me x

Let day 51 of tracking commence...

Tuesday 20th February 2024

Well I'm late this morning because I showered and then Aryn went straight in there and my glasses were in there so I couldn't see a thing to do anything! I seriously need new glasses, I've never liked these once I realised they don't stay on my ears when I bend down, metal sides are not a good idea, they bend too easily.

Anyway, I can see again and eye test and new glasses is on my list to do when I've got some money!

Food yesterday was simple, I really enjoyed my eggs and toast, yes that is full fat butter and no I didn't get heartburn or indigestion from it, weird or what, usually I do, but not yesterday.  I could've eaten it again and want it today too, so nice and cheap!

I enjoyed this too, weird I know, but it was tasty, the sweet potato fries were use by yesterday and Aryn doesn't like them so I had them all with peas and gravy!  I loved it and it filled me up, those fries were part of a meal deal so free in essence because I'd have bought the pie anyway.

I wasn't able to do the gym, in far too much pain to risk making it worse at the minute but I took Aryn for him to do his and I sat with my book in the cafe.

I nipped to get my throws from Dunelm £5 each in clearance - bargain!  Elle got my curtains so they're all up and look cosy.  The ones I've taken down I sat and got the cat hair off and they can go in a bedroom in Ireland so no waste there, same with the green cushions I've taken off the sofa they can go on the sofa there as we have sage paint for there, we were doing it at Christmas but he was poorly wasn't he!

I rested the rest of the day and started watching One Day on Netflix, I have read the book but so long ago I can't remember it.

Busy day ahead with huddles, looking forward to them, I really could do with a trip to Aldi for essentials like fruit and milk, the kid uses them to make himself a smoothie every day so it's a good thing as he's having the entire fruit.

Right I'm off, have a great day, I'm starting day 51 of tracking, I may have gone over that one day this week, but it's all being tracked!

Mwah, luv ya

Here's to a week of tracking and taking care of ourselves!

Monday 19th February 2024

I'm sitting in a very tidy living room, yep that was how I spent some of my Sunday, giving the living room a deep clean, I've got rid of all the clutter, it looks so much better, cosy and comfortable. I can't wait for my curtains to come

I wasn't quite a domestic goddess we had pie and veggies but damn those pies are delicious, he's got a farm shop in Somerset apparently, I'd like to go there and buy all the different pies!

Ocado seems to be the only place that sells their stuff and they only do the two pies, they do quiches too.

It's been a get stuff done kind of weekend and we both woke up this morning at 3am, after trying to go back to sleep, we gave up and got up, it meant he would miss the traffic driving to Wales and I've got my physio done out the way.  It was really painful to do this morning, I'm truly hoping this and the weight loss and the little bit of gym work will all help long term.  That's my WHY, that's what's keeping me going and stopping me from falling off track.  I pulled back some calories yesterday, I can do the same today, I've got some leftover potatoes, I only ate 2 of those on the plate, I also have chicken so could do a bit of a dinner, make a little gravy.

We're eating out the freezer this week, use up some of what we have, I'm feeling a simple week in the kitchen and maybe I can use some of my energy to sort the spare room, not a job I'm looking forward too but every time I look in there my heart sinks so it needs to be done!

But first I have a huddle chat to write and a couple of other things to to, I've woke with a headache so I might have some breakfast see if that helps to shift it, I'm feeling eggs on toast, he had soft boiled eggs yesterday, they did look lovely so I might have them.

Here's to a week of tracking and taking care of ourselves!

Mwah, luv ya
