Change your thoughts and habits and you change your world.
What a week, so many things went wrong but I’ve managed to smile through them all and believe ‘everything happens for a reason’, I’ve had tears of sadness in my meetings and cries of joy, I’m still smiling over my lady who lost 5lb and you’d have thought she’d won an Oscar, I almost heard a speech of who she needed to thank and tell, how lovely.
I was talking to a friend yesterday who was telling me how much better she’s feeling and then commented that yesterday she was back in a ‘hole’ but today much better and made a suggestion that reminded me of the following story.
Once upon a time a Weight Watcher was walking down the road not really looking where she was going, caught up in her thoughts, when all of a sudden - aaaahhhhhhh! She fell straight into a hole.
Some time later as she walked down the very same road she spotted the hole... but oh... Too late! In she fell in again!
Once again, walking down the same old road, the Weight Watcher kept her eye out for the hole and saw it from afar. 'I'm not falling into it this time!' she thought, and purposefully walked around it. Yay!
Just the other day, our Weight Watcher stepped out of her front door and decided she'd take a different road.
Here's how change comes about:
At first we're not aware of habits that keep us stuck in the same old rut, doing the same stuff over and over again. We know it's not quite right and it feels inevitable... we keep falling into the hole. Welcome to yo-yo dieting and the diet mentality!
The first step towards change is awareness... we spot the hole! And for a while, even though we know it's there, we repeat old patterns and habits and keep falling in. The difference is that we know we're doing it, we wish we didn't and we experiment with different ways of getting out!
The more we repeat old habits with awareness, the easier it gets to eventually side-step the hole! We decide to create new habits and for a while it feels a bit contrived and it can feel like hard work and we have to actively remind ourselves to look out for the hole and deliberately step around it to do things differently...
Eventually we just do things differently without thinking about it. We might still slip into the hole occasionally but we fall in with a "here I go again!" and getting out gets quicker and easier and we move on.
Weight Watchers new slogan is “This time lose weight for the last time”, and I want all my members to believe that’s possible, because it is.
A member said to me yesterday, “Life’s hard”, yes it is but life’s hard for all of us so doesn’t that make life fair?!
Just had this recipe through by email, mmm looks good.
Chicken lickin'
Serves 2, 12pp each,
or if you just want to cook the chicken it’s 4pp each chicken piece
Ingredients:
1 egg white
10g / ½ oz parmesan, finely grated
280g / 10 oz chicken breasts, skinless and boneless
200g / 7 oz new potatoes, cut into small cubes
50g / 1 ¾ oz frozen peas
100g / 3 ½ oz frozen broad beans
100g / 3 ½ oz frozen soya beans
50g / 1 ¾ oz spinach
1 tbsp white wine vinegar
1 tbsp olive oil
(1) Preheat the grill to medium. Beat the egg white in a bowl and tip the parmesan onto a plate.
(2) Dip the chicken first in the egg white, then in the cheese. Then grill for 10 mins, or until browned and crisp, turning halfway.
(3) Meanwhile, boil the potato for 10 mins, or until softened. Add the peas, broad beans and soya beans for the final 3 mins, then drain. Toss the vegetables with the spinach, white wine vinegar and oil.
(4) Serve the parmesan chicken on top of the potato, peas, beans and spinach.
Here’s to the start of a wonderful weekend. Bev xx
