Back to Life - Back to Reality!

Tuesday 3rd January 2023
The chaos is worthwhile.

First day back at work, getting up is never a problem, I set my alarm for 7 and woke at 5.30!  Now to drink my mug of tea, then shower.  The cats were all over me when I came down, I think it's because I've started measuring their dry food so they were hungry.  According to the box cats rarely overeat but is this true?  I weighed them yesterday, Minnie is 4.2kg and Coco 5.4kg, I don't know what they were when they came here as getting them to allow us to pick them up was a challenge in itself.

I also weighed the three of us, Aryn had gained 11lb since September but he's also grown about 4inches so I'm not worried about that, his weight is not an issue.  Himself had gained 7lb since October and me, well, my official weigh-in is this morning but let's say I won't be devastated, it's a gain for sure but an acceptable 4 or 5lb which for two weeks in Ireland eating and drinking whatever I fancied, I'll take.

I started my day by going swimming yesterday morning, I'd woke really early and I knew no one else would be getting up any time soon so I thought why not.  I was at the door when it opened and I happened to be the first person in the pool, only by seconds but that was my claim to fame for 2023, the first in the pool.  I thought I'd struggle after not being for weeks so had planned just to do 10 lengths, but I managed my 32 (half mile) and felt good for it.  I need to work on my steps for the day though as we didn't do much of anything yesterday, I did a couple of loads of washing and washed up and made us food but that was it.  I clicked up 4,835 steps which is rubbish but I did manage 58 minutes activity minutes which is great for me.  I can't get the skin temperature thing to work on the fitbit which would interest me but I shan't cry about it, I don't wait to wear the watch any tighter than I already am.

Today I start to track my food again, I need to check the freezer for foods as we don't have much in the fridge apart from cheese, I think I'll freeze some of that later to stop me picking at it and eating it all at once.

I've forgotten how to eat healthy I think lol, we had boiled eggs with soldiers for breakfast yesterday but I sliced butter onto the bread!  There's half a block of the butter left and once it's gone I won't replace it.  I can resist the spreadable butter that they eat.  Even Aryn asked if there were any vegetables yesterday when he went to make himself some food!

I'm really looking forward to getting back to normal, seeing Elle, Carol and all our members, catching up with how everyone got on over Christmas.

But at the same time, I enjoy family life too, even if it can be the most frustrating thing, we spent an hour looking for keys yesterday because he was drunk when he got home!  I left the washing up in the kitchen hoping someone else might consider doing it - I was being delusional I know and when I found Aryn standing in the kitchen holding a tray with a bowl on looking for a surface to put it on - there wasn't any space left, let alone clean plates - I caved and did the washing up myself.  Himself comes walking in the kitchen saying, 'what you both doing?' My eyes go to the ceiling as I say 'washing up cos no one else was going to', to which I get the, 'you only had to ask', and we have the 'I shouldn't need to ask' conversation - hilarious and pointless!  In his defence, he does do the washing up often but he didn't do it yesterday so I had ammunition to be a moody bitch!

We spent all day on our ass binge watching Yellow Jackets, 10 episodes of good but slow and ended with us saying WTF as we expected another episode.  A new series is due in March apparently.

I have leftover spaghetti bolognaise, took it out the freezer Saturday, will it be okay to eat today?  If yes that can be dinner, if no, I need to start thinking of what we're eating today!

Right off to shower, have a great day.

Mwah, luv ya

Love me
