I'm not interested in your excuses!

18th January 2017
Stop burying your potential under excuses!

Dear BeYOUtiful,

It's so easy to find an excuse isn't it, to say I'll draw a line tomorrow, but how many lines are you drawing - do you now have what looks like a sheet of lined writing paper?
Are you getting on your own nerves with how many times you've pressed that reset button?

Then how about we stop, it's January 18th, Christmas is long over.

Yes I know it's cold, yes I know it's winter and dark but guess what, it didn't stop all my members losing a cracking 103 pounds yesterday on my scales so they're handing this grim weather really well!

Ah but I've got so much going on in my life, I'm so busy - stop right there!  So have the majority of those members I weighed as well!  Heck Lisa lost 4.5lb last night, works as a full time hairdresser and is a singer in the evenings too, she had a cracking night out this week at an Italian, good food, good wine, good times, she's just one example of 'it can be done', she's living and losing.

Yeah but she's not running round after kids or a sick relative!  How do you know she's not and even if she isn't, trust me there are plenty of my members that are, some of them are even the 'sick relative' themselves and guess what, they're doing it, they're losing weight.

So what other excuses you got?  Bring em on...

Oh there's the 'I'm not mobile' one, that's okay, I have members who can't move much, don't exercise, they're still succeeding, some of my members have to use walkers, sticks or wheelchairs, they've got to goal.

Whatever your excuse;

I'm too busy.
I'm too tired.
I'll start tomorrow, next week, next month.
I just can't do it.
It's too hard.
It's too expensive.
I have too much on my plate. (figuratively or literally!)
I don't know how to do it.
I don't have the support at home.
This isn't the right time.

The only excuse I'll accept is, "I don't want to", that's the only excuse that is good enough, if you don't want to lose weight and focus on your healthy and happy, then that's absolutely okay, don't do it.

But if you do, no matter what your excuses are, STOP THEM NOW!  These excuses are just ways for you to justify not doing what you really want to achieve.  You'll only succeed when you stop telling yourself you can't and start making changes and living in such a way that shows - actually YOU CAN!

Ask yourself, if you don't make these changes, how will it affect the rest of your year, the rest of your life?  Are you likely to miss out on anything?  How will you feel, is it likely to affect your emotional and / or physical health?  Will it affect your relationships? Maybe it will interfere with your career prospects or have other negative consequences on your life?

Let's cheer this blog up!  What about how you'll feel if you do make this the last time you draw the line or press the reset button for a while and you get on and do it, smashing all those excuses apart.  How might that make a difference to your life?  How would you feel, in what ways would it make a difference to your life, what are the benefits from making healthy changes and losing weight?

Shall we stop making excuses, start making progress and actually get healthier and happy, the side effect of which of course will probably be the weight loss you want.  Focus on your success, not the person sat next to you in your meeting, this is your weight loss journey, you're not the same as that person, by all means celebrate their success with them but don't compare, we're all different.

Sssh, I don't want to hear about how you've tried before and it hasn't worked, or you've lost the weight and regained it.  I'm not interested in your past and you can stop dwelling there too, it leads to regret and feelings of failure, I'm not interested in your past, we're not going that way!  We're looking forward, we're going to focus on the now, this moment right now, you can learn from those past failings but we're not going to use them as an excuse not to start.

How badly do you want to lose weight?  Ask yourself, how important is it?  How committed are you willing to be? Remember the only excuse I'll accept for not doing it is "I don't want to lose weight", I'm not interested in any other excuse.

So, we doing this?

If you have obstacles (not excuses) that may make your journey a little tougher, climb over them, remind yourself that hundreds, actually thousands of people out there have similar obstacles and they're succeeding, how about you become one of them.

I'm off, I hoped you enjoyed reading the letter I've just written to myself, if you thought I was writing it to you and it helped, you're very welcome.  I think to be honest, it could've been written to quite a few of us!  Let's get started on our success shall we?

Yours sincerely,

BeYOUtiful
