Before I die...

7th August 2011

Do not take life too seriously. You will never get out of it alive. Elbert Hubbard

I had a very chilled out day yesterday, did the couple of hours of paperwork that needed doing, then decided stock take could wait till today.  Instead I nipped to the shop and bought a cooked chicken so I didn’t have to cook and came home and settled down in front of the tv with my mags.  I couldn’t believe the lack of smiles whilst in Sainsbury’s though, everyone seemed a bit miserable despite the sunshine.

Life’s full of so many things that are worthy of smiling at that I find it difficult to watch unhappy people.  Alfie’s just provided us with one such moment, I could hear him going down the stairs and an additional noise of “clunk, clunk, clunk”, I assumed he’d got his lead as he often drags it about, but moms just come up to tell me he’d got my hairbrush stuck in his chin so it was hitting every step :D

If you’re not feeling the happy vibe or you’re in a gloomy mood, if you’ve nothing on the horizon to look forward to, then try this; “Act as if…” it’s the slogan that people in recovery use.  It means act as though things are as you want them, keep positive, act positive, brighten up, act as if things are good and looking up for you.

Sometimes you have to do some positive self-talk.  It can change your attitude and turn a bad day around.  Take a look at all the good in your life, there has got to be so many things to be grateful for.

I realised yesterday that I need to make time to do some of the things I enjoy doing, I walked round Hobby Craft looking at all the things in there and thinking mmm I wanna do some of my crafting, I haven’t touched it for so long and I have an entire cupboard full of stuff, so that’s on my to do list now too :D

I just found this website that isjust awesome, with help from old and new friends, Candy Chang turned the side of an abandoned house in her New Orleans neighborhood into a giant chalkboard where residents can write on the wall and share what is important to them. Before I Die is an interactive public art project that transforms neglected spaces into constructive places where we can discover the hopes and aspirations of the people around us.

I think that’s such a fabulous idea don’t you, I’d write Before I Die I want to help as many people love and appreciate themselves as possible.

What would you write; Before I die I want to……

What about changing the sentence a little to “Before I DIET I want to….” How would you finish that sentence,

Before I DIET I want to decide it’s going to be the last time!

Before I DIET I want to accept that I’m only going to make changes that I will continue with forever.

Before I DIET I want to…. (Your turn)

Hopefully it won’t end with ‘eat lots of doughnuts!’

Enjoy the sunshine, enjoy the day, smile and be happy xx
